Malcolm Boyd dies at 91; Episcopal priest took prayer to the streets

The Rev. Malcolm Boyd, the Episcopal priest whose book "Are You Running With Me, Jesus?" took prayer out of church onto the city streets in a slangy vernacular not found in Sunday missals, has died. He was 91.

Boyd died Friday under hospice care in Los Angeles from complications of pneumonia, according to Robert Williams, spokesman for the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles.

Boyd delivered riffs on life's grittier problems — the white racists afraid of integration, or teenage girls who get pregnant — with a candor that was rarely heard from a priest leading a community at prayer.

Going by the Wikipedia entry, he was part of the 60s counter-culture way back in the 50s.

Anti-war activist.

And: “In 1977 Boyd came out of the closet, becoming the most prominent openly homosexual clergy person of the era. In the 1980s Boyd met Mark Thompson, an author and homosexual activist. They became long-time partners.[11] They lived in Los Angeles, California. Boyd served on the Advisory Board of White Crane Institute. He was a frequent contributor to the homosexual wisdom and culture magazine White Crane.”

A pioneer in the destruction of the Episcopal Church.

Pretty much all the clergy in the Episcopal “Church” are homosexuals.

Indeed.

Not a person I would seek out for Pastoral Counseling or Spiritual Edification.

Nevertheless, I hope he had some kind of awakening to repentance before passing, as God desires that none should perish but have everlasting life.

He did a LOT of damage though. (sigh)

Episcopalian clergy are allowed to marry.

Technically, the Episcopal Cult doesn’t yet let homosexuals marry so they just live together.
