BREAKING: Star Trek XIII to be titled ‘Star Trek Beyond’
TrekMovie.com ^ | April 21, 2015 | Kayla Iacovino

It appears that ‘Star Trek Beyond‘ may be the title of the upcoming Star Trek film, lucky number 13 in the franchise. As far as the storyline is concerned, the title suggests that the new film will venture farther out into the galaxy than we have seen in the previous two Abrams films, as co-writer Simon Pegg has been hinting at for some time now.

One Executor class Star Dreadnought can kill anything the Federation, Klingon, Romulan, and Borg could throw at them.

Before you get sliced and diced by the ST fanbase, they are called “Trekkers” not “Trekkies.” Some of them get pretty sensitive about that.

[Written with my tongue in cheek.]

I hope Abrams doesn’t screw up Star Wars as bad.

I hope you like your Star Wars with a large side of lens flare. Seems like there was a lot of that going on in the Star Trek movies.

Well, the Borg might be able to adapt, if they didn’t all get wiped out right away, but that’s a long shot.

They pretty much answered this in the Star Trek remake, where a Romulan mining ship from the future was basically unstoppable to fleets of the older warships. That was a civilian vessel from what, less than a century in the future? One capital ship from the Star Wars universe would be a thousand times more deadly than that.

Yes, boring. After a while, lens flares, over the top (and frankly ridiculous) starship-crashing-into-planet (don’t they now orbital velocity is really, really fast?), or Spock in fistfight on shuttlecraft roof (Spock the martial-arts expert?) and a general lack of any kind of story get boring.

Whiz-bang is not a substitute for good storytelling. And all JJ Abrams brings to the table is a generous dose of whiz-bang. His story concepts are simply asinine, even for the Star Trek universe.

They are going from bad to downright awful.

I know but I wouldn’t blame one of the victims of his abuse for his rise to power.

In the screenplay and novelization, the Romulan Narada was actually equipped with Borg technology, which made it so dangerous to the 23rd century ships.

BTW, that also reminds me when I had a choice of watching MTV and listening to my parents old albums in the ‘80s, I preferred playing Petunia Clark on the turntable.
