The Apple Watch Is Neat, But That Is All
Business Day Live ^ | April 23 2015, 12:42 UTC | Jeffrey Joslin

PEOPLE have been raving about the Apple Watch, so it is probably time for a rant from a devil’s advocate.

For starters, Apple’s smartwatch is neat, but that might be the only thing it has going for it. If the product’s intended function is providing you with around-the-clock health information, then there are a lot of roadblocks that need to be addressed.

Here are five: (...) 1. Battery life is as terrible as you would expect. 2. Too little screen for too much information. 3. It is too big. 4. Even the positive reviews are negative. 5. The Apple Watch could still fail. (...)

Why do you care about my time? Why would you care about what I might or might not be interested in?

It's not YOUR time we are caring about. It is our time that you are wasting with your endless replies telling us you are not interested but you keep posting in something you are not interested in. What's up with your harassing posting in a thread you aren't interested in, wasting the time of many persons who are interested? It simply does not make sense.

For that reason, we think you protesteth too much. . . and you have another agenda at work here.

Apple’s mistake with the Watch was calling it a watch imo. Athough it’s probably not the best idea to invest in the first version of anything that is introduced to the market, for many people the Apple Watch will be a more ergonomically correct front-end for the iPhone.

Techies will understand the idea of "a more ergonomically correct front-end for the iPhone".

However, "for many people" — for those in Rio Linda, you need to call it a "watch". Or their eyes will glaze over, and they won't click.

After all, it tells time, doesn't it? And, because it's an Apple watch, it does more than just that!

And, just to make sure, it helps to offer a $17k version — Rio Linda will realize it's a luxury item, the default version of which they can actually afford, and you'll get some incremental sales from certain people with more money than brains.

The only demographic that might bail out this intrusive watch will be Asian buyers. Only problem is Apple forgot to translate the users manuals into Chinese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Thai, Japaneses, Korean and other major Asian languages.

LIAR. DennisW is spinning his lies again. Do you seriously think that a company of Apple's marketing expertise, an International corporation with a worldwide reputation would make such an error? Of course not. DennisW, you failed your correspondence course in Prevarication and Obfuscation. Of course that happens when you lie on your exams. . . and put someone else's name on them.

A watch is supposed to tell time as the PRIMARY goal. A “watch” that doesn’t tell time as it’s primary goal is not a watch.

And who said it can't tell time. Telling time iS just one of the apps on the Apple Watch, but you bring up another whole post that is a non sequitur claiming that the Apple Watch cannot tell time. Where did you get that?

You keep getting tripped up on ignorant assumptions. . . because you don't have one and have never tried one on, yet you are talking with people who have.

Stick with Tag Heuer, Breitling, Rado, and Rolex.

You overpaid.

My current watch is an eleven-year-old Casio, which cost about $130 (titanium band — leather was about $80). Tells perfect time on its analog face. Sets itself every morning to the atomic clock (WWVB). Charges itself via solar cells in its face — no need to change batteries. The Japanese have forgotten more about horology than the Swiss know.

It's only defect is having to have the zone offset changed when traveling — e.g., Boston to Denver means manually changing the offset from -5 to -7 and watching the hands twirl around to the new time (it takes care of DST automatically).

Reportedly, Seiko has a model that gets its time from GPS. Thus, it's able to set the zone automatically, since it knows where it is...

Of course, the Apple Watch would be just as accurate and also not have the zone problem, right? Plus, there are all those potential benefits from hooking into the iPhone world. Not to mention, while more expensive than the Casio, it's cheaper than the Seiko...

I don’t believe you will give up a $1500 watch over a $500 pile of trash. Nobody will take you seriously. In aviation, a Sturhling or Breitling commands more respect and dignity. I believe you’re lying.

Try $3400. It's in 14K rose gold. You want a photo of it on my wrist? I wear a $20, 000 15.5 carat Black Diamond Rose Gold ring too. I can afford to wear what I want to wear. On second thought, i don't owe you proof.

The point is that I will lay my Stürhling aside for the functionality my $1200 Apple Watch will afford me. . . even though it was a gift from my girlfriend. I bought one for my girlfriend too. . . and she will lay aside her diamond studded Movado for the same reason.

Apple watches are being delivered to buyers tomorrow. Many people are reporting they have received shipment notices and delivery information from the carriers. Sorry, you DON'T know.

You keep claiming things you don't know at all. . . and expect us to refute your lies. Sorry. Not going to happen. I am not going to dance, tick tock man!

I have at least seven fine watches now. . . but currently I am wearing the Stürhling. . . because I like the looks of it and the Meteorite dial is nice. But I am not married to it. Two of the others were gifts from my girlfriend too. . . and the watch she is wearing was a gift from me. I am more interested in what the Watch can do for me.

YOU insult everyone you post to. . .

It’s obvious that you’re getting old, for your vile, senescent profanity makes you look like
an ignoramus, flailing like a thug at your betters.

There. That’s how you reply with decency and no profanity to a troll on a Conservative
site — that troll would be you.

WRONG!!!!
Here is the Apple Watch user manual in English only!
https://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1708/en_US/apple_watch_user_guide.pdf

You will not find this is in Chinese or any Asian language because Apple forgot to do translations. Plus they are assuming any Asian buyer know English

The worst $49 Casio is better than the best Apple watch. Apple has hit an iceberg and is sinking. Good riddance to homo-rubbish!

What I am saying ... since you need an explanation, being unable to figure it out ... is that you buy stuff from LIBERALS every day ... from food, to gas, to clothes, to even your major and occasional purchases, but that doesn’t seem to phase you in the least ... :-) ...

You’re the one who needs to be exposed for the hypocrite that you are!

Difference is that everything I want on my Samsung is free, movies, music etc, with Apple you have to sign up and register and then pay for what you want and yes there is a little which might be free but with Samsung everything is free.
As for privacy well who do you think is knowing what you down load from Apple, yes Apple which is run by who?

Well ... it looks like a good product to me and I don’t see that Apple has failed. Apple has done better in the first day they opened up purchases online than all the other manufacturers did, combined, in the entirety of 2014. What you call “failure” is what ALL those other manufacturers struggled all year, last year ... to do ... :-) ...

In regards to answering your questions ... answering an APPLE-HATER TROLL like you ... is similar to answering questions that a drunk has. They’re not relevant and they have no idea what they’re talking about and they make no sense ... LOL ...

Even the gays are abandoning ship. The Apple watch does not make the right fashion statement for them. There is a rebellion in the ranks and AAPL is tanking.

AAPL holders should be kissing the gadget hungry Asians because they are the only net buyers of this bogus watch. They are very popular with the ladyboys in Thailand

Show me the users manual pdf in Chinese. Once again your Apple fanaticism has blinded you. Once again, Asians are loony toon buyers when it comes to the latest electronics. They love to be an early adopter. It could be the latest Xiaomi Redmi 2 or the Apple watch, it makes no difference to their herd like mentality.... The gays won’t bail out this bogus watch. The Asians might

Wishing does not make it so, dennis.

Apple closed at $130.12 in overnight trading, about 2% off its recent high; most analysts are pegging it at $160 by end of summer.
