They usually dont complete a circuit. This one apparently did.I'm betting the snake had more to do with the 'short' than the bird.

They’re usually not big enough to complete the circuit by touching two lines at once- in this case the snake was probably long enough to do it.

Came in to Work one Morning and had no power, started checking and finally found a Flash Roasted Owl on the ground by the pole, only had one leg. Looked up and the other leg was on one of the Feed lines from the 3 Phase Transformer.
The other foot must have hit the Transformer Casing- YOUR GROUNDED!!!
