A Modest Proposal: The Thread Hijack Drinking Game [vanity]
Still me. | Today | Me

Posted on 07/31/2015 11:49:41 AM PDT by Slings and Arrows

The time has come to take action against thread hijackers.

Let me begin with an example of thread hijacking:

Like most Freepers, I am pro-life. Abortion and and euthanasia appall me, and marketing the results even more so. I support candidates who oppose the culture of death, and cheer when it is thwarted.

I also do not find it necessary to mention these facts on EVERY. FREAKING. THREAD.

There is a certain type of Freeper, though, who has no such restraint. For these zealots, any thread that deviates from the pro-life cause, no matter how trivially, is a heresy that must be immediately suppressed.

You are shocked by cruelty to animals? I guess that means you couldn't care less about the cruelty of THE MILLIONS OF CHILDREN ABORTED EVERY YEAR!!!!!

You lost a beloved pet? Why can't you mourn THE THOUSANDS OF ABORTED BABIES WHO DIED THE SAME DAY?!!!!

Your car shredded its transmission and you're looking at thousands of dollars in repairs? Why aren't you thinking about THE BABIES WHO WILL NEVER GROW UP TO BE AUTO MECHANICS BECAUSE THEY WERE ABORTED?!!!!

(OK, maybe I made that last one up.)

Arguing with these people is pointless. It's the same principle as wrestling with a pig - you just get muddy and the pig enjoys it. Similarly, trying to convince them that they are being rude is a waste of time - THE CAUSE is far more important little things like courtesy and respect.

So, what can we do about it?

We can get drunk.

I hereby propose The Thread Hijack Drinking Game. The rules are simple: When a poster tries to hijack an unrelated thread to his or her pet cause, you 1) reply to the hijack attempt by quoting the text in question, followed by the word "DRINK!", and 2) Take a drink (or any volume) of your favorite beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Moderation is suggested on animal cruelty threads to avoid alcohol poisoning.

This game will not, I admit, solve the thread hijacking problem. But after a certain number of attempts we will no longer care.

And if anyone is offended by my little proposal, I can only say...

DRINK!

And, horrifically, “Bananas in Pajamas” popped to mind.

Back from the doctor. Actually, I was back home by 1025, after a stop at the Rebel station.

The doctor said my blood count is normal, and my liver numbers have improved, and she loved my cholesterol count. And she sent me out the door.

I stopped and chatted with the “Committee” and there was nothing to solve today. My mood swings prevented me from staying, but when I left, so did everyone else. Hmmmm...

My BP was the thing I was really worried about as it was up pretty high when I got up this morning. It was 142/71 at the doctor’s. Not great, but much better. :o]

I’m the one that would most probably be under scrutiny.

FYI..

You're on FR. Ergo, you're under scrutiny..

This public service announcement was presented purely for informational purposes and does not imply that it contains any nuance of truth. But it could. And probably does.

See? I knew that!! And I’m on Facebook with many comments about the Libtards and their collective stupidity, so that makes it almost official that I am “unofficially” under scrutiny.

But thanks for the vote of confidence!

Jake is acting a little better: he was thrashing his tail with some energy when he wanted me to leave him alone on my pillow.

I got some diet cola at Walmart.

FedEx just brought me the power cord. I did a “chat” with a Dell rep (still with an accent!) this morning and reminded him of the fact that the original rep promised “2-3 days” for delivery and not only was this the second day, I also could find nothing concerning tracking information.

Voila! The necessary cords arrived magically by FedEx a few minutes ago! From Lebanon, TN!

And Argee, it looks like you were right about a lot of things concerning Dell that you professed. And I’m SOOOOO glad of that!

So tomorrow morning, I will begin to transfer the data from this computer to the Dell, and make plans to take this POS back to Aaron’s. From now on, I will get nothing from them but a bad time, I’m sure!

If they give you too much grief at Aaron’s ask them if they’ve evern had the pleasure of having a laptop shoved up their nose.

If they tell you it won’t fit, look at them with that gleam in your eye and say, “Maybe not in one piece.”

I'm so glad Jake is feeling like his ol’ self, again! The little gigolo!

After my doctor's visit, I was ready for some celebratory libation, but there was not enough available for Cardboardeaux, much less diet Sierra Mist.

And now that I got the power cords for the new Dell, I have even more to celebrate!

Are you implying that there are people on Facebook who DON’T comment about the Libtards and their collective stupidity?

Aaron’s won’t give me grief. I have been doing business with them for over six years, and I think that is enough time for them to “know” me...though they run through employees in a hurry, so I don’t even have a rapport with the manager.

And on the few times that I have been “unhappy,” it has given them incentive to try and please me. Yah. We’ll see how that works when I want a new washer...

Nah. Somehow, some FRiends have taken over FB so Libtard begging has been replaced with intelligent conversation. So I have two places to visit each day that can stimulate my brain into positive thinking!

I’d love to see a Pubbie PAC put out something like:

“Are you happy with race riots in the U.S.? Do you like having to have food stamps so you can make ends meet? Do you shout for joy when you hear that the gap between the rich and poor just grew wider? Are you celebrating the fact that the government gives a pass to people who come into this country illegaly but look for any reason to throw an American in jail? And do your bank statements with no interest payments make chills run down your leg?

“If this is you, then vote Democrat in 2016. They’ve been giving it to you for 7 years now, and there’s no reason to think they’ll stop any time soon.
