DES MOINES — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and actress Ellen Page, of “Juno” fame, got into a testy and free-wheeling discussion Friday over gay rights here at the Iowa State Fair.
“I’m happy to answer your question but not to have a back-and-forth debate,” Cruz told Page, as she pressed him about discrimination against LGBT citizens, approaching him as he flipped pork chops over an open grill. But the two then proceeded to have a spirited exchange over gay rights and whether private businesses — florist companies, for example —can refuse to cater gay weddings in the name of their religious beliefs.
The discussion, which was held in view of reporters and caught on video for Page’s new Vice show, came hours before Cruz hosts a religious liberty rally here in Des Moines, where he will be defending what he sees as that right.

You're missing the point. Our guys need to stop allowing themselves to be ambushed.
What happens when the video is edited to show Cruz as an "intolerant racist hater"...
Then he'll have to explain that the video was edited and then explain how he's, in fact, not a "racist hater."
He shouldn't have even engaged her at all. He should have said, "I don't talk to racists," then had his security detail escort her out.
We need to get smart on how to use the media. The liberals mastered it decades ago.

As for Ms. Page, methinks her confrontation with Cruz--and her "coming out" announcement--were largely publicity stunts for an actress who has passed her Hollywood "sell by" date. She's too old to play a teenager and not pretty enough to be a successful leading lady.
He didn’t give her anything to use. You act let himself get set up. He didn’t. He was in control. Contrast that with Jeb Bush when he got the anchor baby question yesterday.
uh, the media does the same thing with all Republicans. Trump is constantly telling the sorry about how he said “The American dream is dead ... but I’m going to make it bigger and better again” but the media always cuts out the second part. Also, remember the flap about Megyn Kelly and how everyone in the media just assumed that he was talking about mensuration even though he didn’t say that at all??? In other words, the media is going to spin all the candidates’ words to make them sound bad.
We need to STOP engaging Liberals on THEIR terms. Our guys need to STOP allowing themselves to be ambushed.
As soon as she asked her little ambush question, he should have said, "I don't talk to racists" and had his security detail escort her little Canadian ass out of there.
Then he should have issued a press release smearing her and Vice for racism.
THAT is how it's done.
Witty debate tactics don't work. Confronting liberals with logic and superior debate skills doesn't work. Calling them racists and seeking to absolutely destroy them works.
