The Star Trek film franchise, which first took flight with 1979âs The Motion Picture, is something many of us hold near and dear to our hearts. For some of us, these are the DVDs, Blu-Rays and even VHS tapes we reach for when we want to spend time with our old friends -- Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Bones, Sulu, Uhura and Chekov.
With the recent release of the first trailer for Star Trek Beyond, I thought it was a good a time as any to revisit some of those classic big screen moments. Nick Bosworth over at JoBlo edited and compiled a highlight reel that clocks in at just over 7-minutes and utilizes clips from the first twelve Star Trek films.

Calling this "The Ultimate Star Trek Film Tribute" is a bit of an exaggeration. It's not bad, though.

I'm not really a fan of JJ Abrams' vision of Star Trek ("vision" being the operative phrase, since the CGI seems to be the most important factor). Kirk is too much the irresponsible adolescent, the science isn't there, and the nail-biting action and suspense doesn't seem to make up for the lack of absence of plausible story line. But I'll watch it anyway.

“Lack of absence”. One of those shouldn’t be there.

“lack of absence”. That is an awesome phrase. The more I think about it, the more humorous I find it.

Thank you for the post, ping, and link to the Star Trek tribute.
Bryan (my husband) and I are huge Star Trek fans. We have the
entire series’ of both Star Trek and Next Generation, DS Nine,
plus all the movies, some on laser disc, LOL! But when DVDs
came out, we bought them all over again.
Oh! And Voyager. We have it as well.

Thanks for the ping! With all this inane hype about the return of the force, I needed this.
