Is Trump, Falling In the Polls, Being Driven to Desperation?
News Machete ^ | 1/8/2016 | Ed Straker

Donald Trump has attacked Ted Cruz's eligibility to be President, after saying repeatedly that he saw no problem with it:

Donald Trump said in an interview that rival Ted Cruz's Canadian birthplace was a "very precarious" issue that could make the Texas senator vulnerable if he became the Republican presidential nominee.

"Republicans are going to have to ask themselves the question: 'Do we want a candidate who could be tied up in court for two years?' That'd be a big problem," Trump said when asked about the topic. "It'd be a very precarious one for Republicans because he’d be running and the courts may take a long time to make decision. You don’t want to be running and have that kind of thing over your head."

This represent Donald Trump's second change of position on the subject. Here's a quote from September of last year:

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has reversed his position on Ted Cruz's eligibility to run for president, now saying his Canadian birthplace shouldn't disqualify him.

"I hear it was checked out by every attorney and every which way and I understand Ted is in fine shape," Trump told ABC News just before speaking at a Capitol Hill rally blasting the Iran nuclear deal.

I think what's going on here is that Donald Trump is panicking. A great lover of polls, he has seen himself repeatedly falling to second place in Iowa, and now he has fallen to second place in California, behind Ted Cruz.

His behavior resembles Jeb Bush. When Jeb was falling in the polls, he tried saying anything he could to arrest his decline in popularity. Remember how he said "anchor babies" to try and mimic Donald Trump? Or when he oddly told a crowd that Donald Trump is a jerk? Trump seems to be at a loss for words at how to respond to Ted Cruz, contradicting his earlier positions to attack him. Trump has tried attacking Ted Cruz's faith, he has tried attacking Ted Cruz for fighting the GOP establishment, and he has tried to attack Cruz for supporting a border fence, even though Cruz supported one long before Trump did.

Trump's behavior shows that he will say or do anything to be elected President. He was pro-amnesty for illegal aliens, now he's against it. He criticized Bill Clinton's sexual assaults, but invited the alleged rapist to his wedding (because as a businessman, he liked to get along with everybody-even alleged rapists). He was against funding Planned Parenthood on August 3rd, but supported subsidizing Planned Parenthood on August 11th.

Chairman Mao had a hard base of supporters called "To Whateverists", who said

We will resolutely uphold whatever policy decisions Chairman Mao made, and unswervingly follow whatever instructions Chairman Mao gave

It didn't matter what the instructions were, as long as they came from Chairman Mao. Donald Trump has his own group of supporters in the same category, but if the polls keep going in the same direction, they are going to have a very bitter February and March.

Small math foaming factions of either camp engaged in either camp had conniptions over those.

I am a Cruz supporter (since Walker turned amnestybot) and I see no big deal in Trump’s response to questions already raised or in what Cruz said.

Let’s focus on sealing the border and ejecting dangerous people who shouldn’t be here.

I agree. Next trump will attack Cruz’s Conservatism from the left. Trump already hinted at using that tactic by going after Cruz for challenging the establishment

The clinton donor is the clinton weapon target Conservatives

>> “His behavior resembles Jeb Bush.” <<

>> Odd. Bush has zero support. Trump has massive support. (He must be doing something right... <<

It just shows me that duplicate strategies don't always translate well when they're tried on something else.

I find the behavior of anti-17th amendment conservatives and pro-gay marriage liberals to be similar. Both of them take some issue that wasn't even up for discussion a decade ago, and vehemently insist that it MUST be enacted out of a sense of justice and fairness, and that you simply hate America and the Constitution if you don't immediately get on their bandwagon. Yet this same rhetoric has produced massively different results: Repealing the 17th has zero support. Passing gay marriage has massive support.

Aren't you Cruz supporters supposed to Christian? Your comments are certainly not reflective of a Christian attitude. You denigrate many, many fine Americans cause they won't march in lock step with you.

I don’t see a flip. He said from what he had read a bunch of lawyers says Cruz is qualified. The so called flip was him talking about possible lawsuits. And we KNOW the democrats will be filing them.

Sure, but we have the history of Trump’s remarks on the subject.

Considering Cruz felt compelled to release his mother's birth certificate today, you can clearly see that Trump does not have perfect knowledge of his eligibility. Add to that, he's not an attorney nor a constitutional one at that, his opinion doesn't really mean squat anyways.

Trump did not ‘attack’ Cruz, he just said (in response to a question)that their might be DEMOCRATS who would tie him up in court with lawsuits over his birth, which is true.

How is that an ‘attack’ and show of desperation?

The media make me sick

Thanks for the history lesson on great communist leaders comrade Straker. You are preaching to the original, and still the best, commie haters America has. They wish they could be like Don. Lol.

I think Trump and Cruz are tag teaming the media and the RATs in this and other issues. Their making the media reveal that they are jackass pets and the RATs are having their best shots muffeled.

This one was. "Did Donald Trump Get the Idea for a Border Fence From Ted Cruz?" It always says at the end of the article when they have also been published at American Thinker.

When I see blacks who have never voted GOP on thier lives clamoring to join team TWD I will believe. Some of The Donald’s appeal might be sheer celebrity but it might be what’s needed to get a wave started

Cruz not any attorney? First I’ve heard of that; didn’t Alan Dershowitz praises Cruz’s legal talent?

He’s behind in Iowa. Last polls I saw of California and Utah, Cruz was ahead and Cruz’s trajectory in the early states is straight up.
