All of the shows mentioned here are great. I would definitely recommend the IT Crowd - spot on brilliant. Whenever I see David Cameron, I think of the guy who invited Jen to the gay musical.

Also, check out Brass Eye, only available AFAIK on YouTube. Definitely way way way out there. And watch out that your kids are not exposed to Clarky Cat or Cake!

Just about anything by Catherine Tate. She has many great
characters, Nan, Lauren, and many others. Cracks me up.

There was a short lived one called Brass. I think it involved a silent explosive. I remember a vaguely.

Vicar of Dibley came close to blasphemy for me...but she usually made up for it in the end...If you are a fundamentalist...don’t watch...but if love is in your heart and forgiveness....give it a try.

Loved AB FAB. Wish they would bring it back.

There is another hilarious series called “Friday Night Dinner” but I think it was only one season. Ran on the BBC America channel for awhile.

2004 or so. Definitely a show about nothing. May not exactly be vulgar but does kind of push the envelope. Quirky bookstore owner doesn’t want to do his taxes so when two Jehovah’s Witnesses show up he goes out of his way to invite them in so they can waste of time and they don’t know what to do because they never actually gets invited in.

many great ones, but the funniest Britcom I ever saw was The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin (watch it in order of the episodes, as the story line develops in sequence)

Sad that it too 45 post for this to come up.

I love the books and the show is pretty good too.

Another vote for Tony M. Nyphot’s Flying Risccu.

And, if you count radio shows:

Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (the radio show was the best of them all, even the books)

and going WAY back

The Goon Show. Almost all British comedy started there.
