Ben Shapiro Explains Why He'll 'Never' Vote for Trump
Breitbart ^ | 3/5/2016 | BREITBART NEWS

Posted on 03/05/2016 9:58:43 AM PST by 20yearsofinternet

While co-hosting his KRLA 870 AM and KTIE 590 AM radio shows in Southern California, Shapiro said:

"As you know, I’ve been agonizing on air over whether I would ever vote for Donald Trump. And I’m starting to come down firmly in the #NeverTrump camp. I will never vote for this man. I will not pull the lever for this man. I will not pull the lever for him in a general election or in a primary. It’s not going to happen. And the reason is that if conservatives never say “no” at some point, then they’re never going to have the opportunity to say “yes.” Because the logic of the Republican Party is, “the conservatives are going to be forced to vote for whomever we choose, that whomever we put out there, Sen. John McCain or Mitt Romney or Donald Trump, we’re going to put that person out there and we’re just going to make you vote for that person because they’re better than Hillary Clinton, or better than Barack Obama.” If you don’t say no at some point, gang, you’re never going to get a nominee to whom you can actually proudly stand up and say yes. You’re always going to be the sucker, because they can just take your vote for granted."

Asked later in the show about the possibility of Hillary being elected if conservatives failed to show up for Trump, Shapiro stated:

"Am I willing to risk a Hillary presidency not to vote for Trump? The answer is yes."

Think back a few years and tell me what is the difference between that, and some conservatives who said they would rather see Obama be president than vote for Romney?

The analogy is not perfect as 0bunghole and Hitlery are similar, but Romney and Trump are worlds apart.

No matter what they say in defense of their decision, I will, from that point on, no longer regard them as worth listening to, watching on tv or reading their spew on FR!

Shapiro is one of the great Constitutional Conservative intellects. He is at the very top. He is a genius and a solid REAL Conservative (not a “Compassionate” or “Common Sense” Conservative).

If you care about real Conservatism, then you should care about what Shapiro thinks.

Shapiro went round the bend, off the cliff, jumped the shark, went nuts, joined the other team, etcetc. He suffers from Trump envy and fear of loss of whatever goodies he gets by being the controlled opposition.

Why Mitt Romney will win By Ben Shapiro:

Maybe Ben Shapiro ain’t a conservative after all?

In truth, the word “conservative” has for some years mean “whatever anyone thinks it means”.

Same can be said of me, you, or anyone Kevin. Yet here we are, spouting off to anyone who’ll bother to look. Regarding Mr. Shapiro’s opinion, there’s a price to be paid for going out of the way to insult opponents. Not disagree and argue, but name call like a schoolyard tough and figuratively wave a middle digit at anyone who dares point out that his positions are a revolving door and maybe, just maybe, the SOB can’t be trusted. Go out of your way to pi$$ people off, even when you’re winning, and you’re going to lose a few. Hopefully, the same thing is happening on the other side with Hillary’s blatant fraud to Bernie Sanders’ groupies. But I would want to count on it. Democrats don’t have principles and are far more herd oriented.

I assume he’s saying “conservatives” should have said “no” to McCain and Romney and we didn’t so now it’s time to start.

Conservatives DID say no to both of these two candidates. Why do you think they lost?

Why do you think Obama won by carrying women and blacks (both minorities) where the white male Conservatives stayed home?

Ben Shapiro is no idiot. He is probably one of the strongest Conservative minds in the US. The problem is Trump is no Conservative and the truth HURTS down to the marrow in your bones.

Ben is neither a serious nor a sane writer.

He belongs with Glenn Beck.

Apparently, SCOTUS is meaningless to Little Ben.

It’s distressing to hear some conservatives say they would rather see Hillary be president than vote for Trump.
I've voted for every Republican candidate for President since 1980, but i won't vote for Trump.

I honestly believe that Trump is a bigger threat to this country than Clinton. I know where Clinton stands, and as long as the Republicans hang on to Congress, they will limit her. She won't have anything like the support that "Hope & Change" Obama had.

Trump, on the other hand, has the same sort of cult-like appeal of Obama. That, combined with his "everything is negotiable" and "I've changed my mind" lack of principles, puts him in a better position to become the type of tyrant Conservatives have been warning against with each Democrat President.

I'd rather have an honest enemy in the White House than a lying, fake ally.

This is absolutely a ridiculous, head in the sand attitude!

The writer is simply ignoring the very real evidence that Donald Trump is a natural Conservative. The evidence is from far clearer personality indicators than simply his evolving stands, now that he is really focused on politics. (The direction of his evolution, can be demonstrated by his method of approaching other subjects of his focus in the past.)

See Trump: Metaphor For American Conservatism.

Do not make the mistake of judging Trump by the broken promises of people with a very different personality.

I guess public temper tantrums serve a useful purpose, but this kind of stuff gets real old. Vote, don’t vote, and take your toys with you. Who cares.

Fight Islamic jihad at home.
Bring free market into health care.
Support 2nd Amendment.
Support for law enforcement.
Against voter fraud.
Bring manufacturing and jobs back to the US.
Simplify taxes.
Reduce red tape, get rid of unnecessary regulations that hamper businesses and personal freedom.
Cut/eliminate dept of Edu, EPA and some other I can’t remember.
Get rid of Common Core and education should be locally decided and controlled.
Ultimately get a SCOTUS that will overturn Roe/Wade and fag marriage.
Support freedom of religious expression.
Strengthen the military but curtail foreign interventions.
Make countries who we protect reimburnse us.
Take care of veterans better.
Eliminate fraud, waste and abuse in gov spending.

Any "conservative" who says he would rather see Hillary be president than vote for Trump, is somebody I will no longer consider a conservative.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but what about the "conservatives" who said they would rather see an Obama presidency than vote for McCain or Romney?

It’s one thing to say you’re not going to vote Trump, and another to actually follow through. At this point, I think these folk are mostly just trying to drag down Trumps poll numbers. Trump is not my fave, but I’d drag myself from my death bed to go vote for him v Hillary.

If Trump was what you think, why was it Trump who virtually broke the back of the "politically correct," intimidation of self-proclaimed Washington Conservatives, and not one of those self-proclaimed Washington Conservatives?

Incidentally, I have not voted for every Republican since 1980. I could not vote for W's Second Term, nor for McCain. I do not compromise Conservative fundamentals. My belief that Donald Trump is moving in the right direction, is based on over 60 years of experience, since I was a school boy, in working with hard core Conservatives, and learning to recognize the tell tale signs as to who was genuine and whom a phony.

And as Conservative as I am, even I will point out that Phyllis Schlafly, the gallant lady who has been fighting for the America that the Founders vouchedsafe to their posterity--as the veritable conscience of true Conservatism, all of her dedicated life--has also endorsed Donald Trump. (To my knowledge Mrs. Schlafly has never given an inch on matters of principle.)

It would be very hard to find an issue on which Donald Trump is not clearly more Conservative than John McCain, the writer is spouting nonsense—absolute nonsense.

"What about the above are not conservative?"

Trump is on both sides of many of those issue. At any moment, he will be on both sides of any of the other issues. And that is on the rare occasion he will talk policy.

Trump fans seem to have a filter and hear only the parts they want to hear.

Even Lindsay Graham, etc., talk like Conservative during an election year. Trump is just a more convincing version of Lindsay Graham.
