A multi-disciplinary team of scientists have discovered the skull of a weird, unique extinct human and who was found in an underground cave
Homo naledi fragments of skull and jaw
=======================================================================================================
Scientists have discovered a skull belonging to a previously unknown species of human from three million years ago.
The research team made up of paleoanthropologists stumbled across the remains in an underground cave and have now put together a skeleton which stands at 4ft 9 tall and is described as "a really, really strange creature."
Lee Berger of the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and his co-horts stumbled across 15 individuals skeletons which they believe make up a tribe of the bizarre human species - and now they've found the missing link.
And while they resemble homo sapiens - like modern day humans - the species could more more than 2.8 million years old.

The Gollum was on an isolated island...
The past is looking more and more like Tolkien’s world.
Short people got no reason to live.
Piltdown’s dwarf brother... Pigmeee Jack... I thought he moved to England. Is he the guy who ate deep fried fossils?
Considering the ability to get food at that time, 4’9” tall is actually pretty good. Go look at pictures of the people of the orient from about 150 years ago. Someone that was 4’9” would be just one of the crowd.
No such thing as 3 million years.
This species is not "unknown". There is one living in California at this time:
Well, something must have happened between 65 Million years ago and the rise of humans 2 million years ago. There had to be some ancestors in that time period......................
Yes, I’m a student of ancient languages. See my tagline.
There are people-called pygmies-in Africa that look about that size, and there are NBA-player-height Watusi tribesmen in the same country today-so it stands to reason they were around when taller hominids were, back then, too. I know a couple of people under 4’ 11”, but they are both women and of Irish ancestry...
Looks like a smoker; note the nicotine stained fingers. Well, ex-smoker...
I am not an anthropologist, but common sense tells me that a single skull cannot define a "new species."
I will invoke the Mark Twain "Rule" :
Such large returns of conjecture, from such modest invesment in fact...
Should you ever get a chance to read T-Rex and the Crater of Doom, I think you'd love the intro...
Introduce me.
I could use a pot of gold or two...
Thanks! I did a search and it does look good. I might even be able to read that intro for free on Amazon. With Amazon Prime and my credit card credits maybe I can buy it for “free.”
The last time I went to the Denver Museum of Natural History, in the mid-’80s, they had a then new display of a full sized T-rex skeleton. What a freakin’ monster those things were.
I’ve always thought Danny Devito was a missing link to something vaguely humanoid.
The odds against finding one skeleton that is 3 million years old are extremely high. The odds of finding a skeleton of a freak in the population would be astronomically higher than that.
Actually they are the ancestors of Irish leprechauns. Interbreeding was attempted later on as one lass remarked after being caught trysting with one: “I think I`ve got a little Irish in me!”
Happy St. Patrick`s Day!
