Deceased Oklahoma Robbery Suspect’s Grandfather Says ‘Unfair’ to Shoot Grandson with AR-15
Breitbart ^ | 4/2/17 | Awr Hawkins

Posted on 04/02/2017 11:58:30 PM PDT by RC one

The grandfather of one of three suspects killed during the alleged March 27 home invasion in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, says the use of an AR-15 against the suspects was “unfair.”

According to  Tulsa World, Wagoner County Sheriff’s deputy Nick Mahoney said the three suspects “were wearing all-black clothing, masks, and gloves” and allegedly “forced their way into the home through a glass door in the back.” The homeowner’s son was asleep at the time and awoke to “loud bangs” as the suspects made entrance. The son grabbed the AR-15 and opened fire when the intruders walked into the hallway.

Deputy Mahoney said “investigators found a knife on one of the deceased in the kitchen and brass knuckles on the other.”

ABC 8 reports that Leroy Schumacher, grandfather of deceased 17-year-old suspect Jacob Redfearn, says what the boys “did was stupid” but they did not deserve to die.” He added, “Brass knuckles against an AR-15, come on, who was afraid for their life.”

He said the use of the AR-15 meant “his grandson didn’t have a chance.” He said, “There’s got to be a limit to that law, I mean he shot all three of them; there was no need for that.”

I guess Redfearns dream of a career as a Vanilla Ice impersonator went up in smoke, literally.

What is it with the word “unfair”? My son’s Bible teacher at school constantly tries to drill into the kids’ heads that a border wall is “unfair.”

As I tell my kids from birth on, a fair is a place with cotton candy and rides. If you don’t see cotton candy and rides in front of you, don’t be looking for “fair.”

hell, there were three of them and they came at him while he was asleep. I think they had the advantage. They just made too much noise and lost their advantage.

reminds me of the one time I needed my CCW, there was three of them and one of me and I only had five shots. That was a little too fair for my comfort so I’ve been carrying a high cap semi-auto ever since.

There are two things that really, REALLY concern me about this incident. (No, the death of these three does not concern me in the least. That doesn't mean I rejoice at it, it simply means they got what they should have expected.)

1. This statement from the story: "...Thorp said, “This is obviously a triple homicide, and so we want to make sure that we cross all of our t’s and dot all of our i’s and insure that we have the maximum amount of information before we make formal decisions. It is complex...” Does anyone else read this as ominously threatening to the young man who killed these thugs?

2. The comments following the linked story. That was disturbing to read. There are a lot of people who don't understand that when you break into a home, wearing black with your faces concealed and carrying weapons, that the threat is to the peaceful inhabitant of the house minding their own business from the armed, black-clad intruders, and not the other way around.

That’s right.

SecDef Mattis has come under criticism in these forums lately, and for good reason, but in listening to a discussion he had with the Hoover Institute in the last couple of years, he spoke about fighting our enemies.

I don’t have the transcript, but I can paraphrase: “We should make the fights we have with our enemies as unfair for them as is humanly possible, and kill so many of them in the shortest amount of time that they fear provoking us.”

Due to political constraints, we were often unable to abide by that goal in our previous recent military actions, but on a personal defense scale, it should be made the goal 100% of the time. If you could set up claymores and flamethrowers to protect yourself from people like this, you should be able to do so.

"...I mean he shot all three of them; there was no need for that.”

Where was the need for them to break into his house?

No wonder we read stories like this. We have a segment of our population that actually believe that they are entitled to anything that they want and that they are above accountability.

I am pretty sure grandpa would not want that.

No need to assume anything, it’s a basic concept within the “Castle Doctrine” as written into the law. It’s also written into the law that burglary of an occupied dwelling results in a first degree burglary charge. As for my comment, I agree the perps were bought and paid for yet there are still things to be learned from a home defense perspective. As such, understanding the entire context enhances the learning. In this situation, even though it was middle of the day, the occupant was awakened by the entry noises. His choice to arm himself and investigate is a factor where all can learn something about coming from sleep to engaging an intruder.

Someone needs to remind your son's "bible teacher" that Heaven has an extremely high and thick wall, with stringent entry requirements and extreme vetting of each person admitted.

I figure if it's the pattern that GOD uses then its the same pattern we should use.

(or you can find a school/church that actually believes the bible)

I find that #04 Buck can be more effective than #00 in quick shoot situations.
Found this out coyote hunting.
