Humans on Earth Will Perish in 600 Years, Stephen Hawking Warns
Sputnik News ^ | Nov 7, 2017 | Staff

According to Hawking, our planet will become overcrowded, and increased energy consumption will turn Earth into a ball of fire because of the rising population and exponential consumption. But he seems to have a solution.

Physicist Stephen Hawking has warned that the human race will cease to exist on Earth after humans turn it into a giant fireball by 2600 year.

To escape from the catastrophe, humans must "boldly go where no one has gone before," Hawking declared during his video appearance at the Tencent WE Summit in Beijing, as quoted by the New York Post.

The physicist appealed to investors to support his project Starshot Breakthrough, which involves a journey to the closest star outside our solar system – Alpha Centauri, one of the closest star systems at 4.3 light-years away from Earth.

The scientist hopes that the system may have exo-planets orbiting it, which could be suitable for life just like on Earth.

Starshot Breakthrough’s director, a former head of NASA’s Ames Research Center, also made an appearance in Beijing saying, "Maybe if all goes well, sometime a little after the middle of the century, we’ll have our first picture of another planet that may be life-bearing orbiting the nearest star."

Just a day earlier, Hawking appeared at Web Summit in Lisbon, Portugal, to warn humanity about the development of artificial intelligence, saying, "AI could develop a will of its own."

"The rise of AI could be the worst or the best thing that has happened for humanity,” he added, explaining that robots are already taking over millions of jobs, and technologists must pause and focus not just on making AI more successful, but try and make it more beneficial to humanity.

According to Hawking, the timing might be faster than we think, as AI could outshine humans in just a few decades.

The famous futurist and businessman Elon Musk has also previously warned about the future of the human race, as potentially superior artificial intelligence has already been created.

The quick fix would be to open a vial of smallpox virus. Don’t think they haven’t thought of it. Watch and see when Congress starts vaccinating the government agents. Look out world!

The progressives talk about population control. White Europeans and Americans are actually reducing their population. Who they need to control are the Muslims and Hispanics, but that would be “racist.” Just like carbon reductions, they expect the whites to reduce our population further to offset the population explosion of the rest.

Hey Stevie! you need to go out for some fresh air. Do you realize how long it would take to get there? And the G force on people if you find a way to accelerate to near light speeds? Same for deceleration?

Otherwise it will be generation after generation on a space ship. The old folks who die along the way will be ejected into space. (Or were you going to suggest some kind of recycling?) Those who get a disease that burdens the crew will be terminated and ejected into space.

Those born on the craft will not have been given the chance to decide if they wanted to go along for the ride. This is a blatant human rights abuse.

But above all, chair-guy, you know the real reason for going to another planet: to establish a civilization without religion. Admit it, Stevie.

Once again, Hawking’s ego drives him to opine on areas of science where he has ZERO expertise.

He should just stick to strip clubs and lap-dances. I know he really digs that.

He's right. With all the gender reassignment they will eventually become unable to reproduce.

But honestly I thought the year was 2525 that we pondered if man was still alive. We have been granted a little breathing room by Mr. Hawking if his prediction is correct. Thus making Gore out to being a complete liar. 8>)

From a religious perspective, God’s will will be done.

Which could be the total eradication of life on this planet in 600 years. ;-D

Ya know, there's a star about a 1000 or so light-years away whose axis is pointed towards Earth.

It's been observed to "burp" a couple times about a 150 years ago, so if the astrophysicists are correct, and if it goes supernova, it will send a GRB that will hit the Earth, temporarily disrupting air molecules filter out the dangerous UV rays from the Sun, if it hasn't already.

OTOH, the Earth is doomed anyway, once the Sun goes into its Red Giant phase, in probably around 5 billion years.

Hawking is or was an expert on black hole physics. Beyond that he’s a dope.

I am totally amazed at people that are experts in one field and pretend to be experts in a completely different field.

It took them years to get a PhD in one field and they read one book in a different field and by magic now they are experts in something totally unrelated. They are so self absorbed that they think their opinion matters in everything else. When I was in college I knew quite a few college professors that would go on and on about something they knew nothing about. But they felt that their single PhD made them an authority on everything.

Hawking doesn’t warn anything. Hawking doesn’t say anything. Hawking doesn’t think anything. Hawking is just a meat puppet that his support people manipulate to give promimence to their own incipid pronouncements.

Not to mention most PhD’s are focused so specifically to a particular subset of the overall field they are in, sometimes they don’t even fully understand their own overall field of study. I see it all the time in computer science PhD’s. Some of them can recite theory of database structure, but couldn’t tell you the first thing about IP addresses. Or vice versa. And I’ve seen plenty of proof this happens in other fields of study as well.

Only an idiot would think there is nothing in 600 years that could change such a ridiculous forecast.

Hawking never was a scientist. He guesses at crap.

I don’t take this lightly at all. What work do people do when robots will be capable of almost anything? And we are overpopulating the planet.

On the bright side, we can have robots fight the Muzzies.

an expert is someone who learns more and more about less and less until eventually he(she) knows everything about nothing.
