The NFL and some owners joined in with the kneeling idiots. If they had just ignored them it would’ve been one thing and there probably wouldn’t be any boycotters, but they were the snowflakes who didn’t want to be labeled racists...

And so the Jags lost. Maybe the refs had it in for them for their London kneeling with the Ravens. After all, did you see the Anthem ceremony before the Philly game?

Henceforth, if they continue to show the Anthem with all the players standing, is that not a victory?

>>After all, did you see the Anthem ceremony before the Philly game?<<

I have seen no nfl games this season.

>>Henceforth, if they continue to show the Anthem with all the players standing, is that not a victory?<<

Too late.

jerry jones was doing his best mccain moderate impersonation, he tried to let the protesters kneel BEFORE the anthem then stand for the actual anthem, but like all moderates he just pissed off both sides.

I don’t care if you don’t watch football, and anyone that cares if i do can GFTS

Well it makes sense that the AFC Championship game would be the highest rated game since the Super Bowl. That’s true every year. Bet the Super Bowl will be the highest rated game of the season too.

Well I guess we should be even then because I've said all along I don't care what you or anyone else watches...

Interesting, may have to look into this after I re-read all my old college textbooks. /sarcasm

As I see, the NFL is a BUSINESS who profits on the ENTERTAINMENT value it produces for its audience. So, to entertain their audience they must present a product which captures and then holds the attention of their intended audience year after year. BTW, they have to periodically retool as generations move through the audience spectrum.

The NFL does best by attaching the audience’s pride to the entertainment itself; i.e. creating some sense of belonging/attachment between the audience and the cities/teams/players. Reality is, this is all done to fool the audience away from their money by both selling them team merchandise, game tix and the audience’s attention to third party advert companies. Consider how teams move from one city to another, is this not done to maximize profit without regard for the abandoned fan? Fortunately for the NFL, there are many joiner “fans” who just want to feel like winners and will religiously follow a “winning” team/player to which they have no real connection to merely share in the winner’s experience and gain some self validation.

Now, I like to see competition in any form. The more physical and difficult it is, the more I appreciate it and enjoy it. Yet, I will not compromise my love of country and respect for those who sacrificed their lives for my country just for the sake of being entertained. To me, no form of entertainment is worth ignoring this personal believe. I am old fashioned that way.

The NFL is dead to me.

Regards

>>But the League is also far from dead, whether or not those who despise traitors want to admit it.<<

I liken it to American Idol.

Once it started sagging, AI had ratings that other shows would kill for. But year over year, point drop by point drop, eventually it died.

Likewise the nfl is slowly dying — not only from dropping viewership but from the blowback it is getting from skull injuries.

How long before schools get sued into the stone-age for allowing kids to play a game they KNOW is dangerous. Even if they have signed waivers from the parents, those parents can say the dangers were minimized (think tobacco suits).

Pressure on both sides will kill the nfl in most Boomer’s lifetimes.

LOL

Every year there are “the refs were paid off” conspiracy theorists.

If the game hinges on a key call then the losing team deserved to lose anyway.

I don’t see anyone claiming the refs changed the outcome of the Philly game despite the fact the nfl NEEDED a NE/Philly SB to avoid a catastrhic drop in ratings.

I may not be following this year but this line of thinking always cracks me up.

Note also the servicemen don’t control the set and are in a unique situation where the best and most home-like thing they can do is watch games from home.

It will take a while before they get the message.

Forget them — what is YOUR reason for watching? You support the kneelers? b/c by watching you do.

Precisely. I tried to watch the Pats and Jax game, but I turned it off before halftime and went to Church.

It wasn’t really the kneeling that was the last straw, it was that they proved what I thought about them all along.

you misread it, it was the highest rated TV program of ALL TV programs not just NFL Games...

Not only was CBS’ broadcast of Sunday’s AFC Championship Game between the Patriots and Jaguars the most-watched game of the season, it was the highest-rated program on television since New England’s epic comeback against the Atlanta Falcons in last year’s Super Bowl.

I could ask you the same question you’ve posted far more on this subject than I have. I certainly haven’t posted stories on it like you, just posted comments which one can read or skip over...

Again that’s normal. Only the Oscars and World Series would come close. A low rated NFL playoff game still beats all scripted programing.

I agree the boycott is ineffective. most sane people realize the difference between the entity of the NFL and the individual of Colin kapernick. And I’m surprised the oscars are still rated so high you know with all those liberals bitching everytime they get to the microphone...
