THE DANGER OF ATTENDING A CLASS REUNION!
email from an OLD friend | 02/05/2018 | unkown

The 60th High School Reunion

He was a widower and she a widow. They had known each other for a number of years, having been high school classmates and having attended class reunions in the past, without fail.

This 60th anniversary of their class, the widower and the widow made a foursome with two other singles. They had a wonderful evening, their spirits high, with the widower throwing admiring glances across the table . . . and the widow smiling coyly back at him.

Finally during one dance, he picked up courage to ask her, "Will you marry me?

After about 6 seconds of careful consideration, she answered, "Yes.... yes I will!"

Needless to say, the evening ended on a happy note for the widower. However, the next morning he was troubled. Did she say Yes or did she say No? He couldn't remember. Try as he would, he just could not recall. He went over-and-over the conversation of the previous evening, but his mind was blank. He remembered asking the question, but for the life of him could not recall her response.

With fear and trepidation, he picked up the phone and called her. First, he explained that he couldn't remember as well as he used to. Then he reviewed the past evening. As he gained a little more courage, he then inquired of her, "When I asked if you would marry me, did you say .Yes or did you say No? "Why you silly man, she replied, I said Yes. Yes I will! And I meant it with all my heart!" The widower was delighted. He felt his heart skip a beat. Then she continued. "And I'm so glad you called, because I couldn't remember who asked me.

I think the majority of people I would see if i had ever went, would be alcoholics and drug addicts. Since their parents were mostly alkies.

I’ve never been to any of mine.

some friends have gone, and say they didn’t enjoy it. They said the “cool” kids, or “cliques” all hung out together at the reunion, and pretty much ignored everybody else. Just as they did in high school.

Other friends said how so many people were braggarts; how they went to law school, were partners in law firms, had high positions in the government or major corporations, that sort of thing.

So, anecdotal evidence — friends who have gone just didn’t enjoy it, and I never felt any great desire to go. I’ve kept in touch with some high school friends, and don’t really care whatever happened to most of the people in my class.

Got a photo of my class from the 50th. Pulled it out of the envelope, and thought, “Who are all these OLD PEOPLE??”

My 10th reunion will be this year and I am not going. I was happy to get away from those people and I am happy not to see them ever again.

I went to my 10th. Looked around and saw a bunch of people I really didn’t like 10 years ago. Never been back.

Same here. Meh.

At my 40th high school reunion in 2010, a three sport letterman named Mike was wearing a dress and going by “Megan”.

Sounds like Megan is the ‘brain damaged’ one;)

Modern medicine and surgical mutilations are destroying the human species.

Looks like I’m the only one here so far that enjoys reunions. I make it a point to go, even being 2,000 miles away. I find it extremely interesting to reconnect with people I knew 40 years ago with little or no contact since.

Regarding people acting like a “braggart”, there’s always a handful of those. However, in our class, we had Charlie Ergen (founder/Chairman/CEO of Dish Network and Echostar). He’s apparently worth about $15 billion. When he shows up at the reunions (and he always does), he could come in a private jet, limo and entourage. But, refreshingly, he just shows up as Charlie, the same 18 year old high school kid everyone knew and liked, and makes it a point to talk to everyone.

I have not visited any of my reunions. A friend posted candid photos of my 40th reunion. Most people were sitting in the same cliques I remembered from 40 years previous.

I went to my 40th, and as I looked around I said to myself: “Where are my old buddies? Only their PARENTS are here!”

I went to three high schools, never really got close to anybody, so I've never been to a reunion.

I did play a gig once, the 50th reunion of a class of 1950, somewhere down around Denver.

11 of their classmates went to the Korean War, and didn't come back. The night was all about honoring them.

I was homeschooled so I can have reunions with myself anytime I want.

Sometimes people ask about homeschooling. They want to know what about friends and things. I usually ask them, of your highschool just how many people did you actually like? A couple? I had that many friends in scouts and at church. Did I miss hanging out with hundreds of other people I did not like? Nope.

I went to my 30th. I had a good time reconnected with a couple of people. I probably won’t go again now that I did it. Most of us guys recognized each other but the woman looked very different.
