9. Red glow over the Pacific Ocean

This incredible and eerie red light was first seen by pilot Christiaan van Heijst. He was flying over the ocean from Hong Kong to Alaska in his Boeing 747-8 when he noticed a red glow beneath him.

He says the glow appeared after a flash of distant lightning, and scientists think it might be a reflection of a volcanic eruption beneath the ocean, but nobody can fully explain it.

This is all beyond me.

I’m still trying to understand why hot dogs come in packs of 10 but buns come in packs of 8?

And how about those hot-chocolate machines that say “release the button when 3/4 full” - they never fill further.

And why does United have a boarding group 5? It’s always like 3 people.

And how come no one ever gets off a flight at their final destination and stops to eat at one of the fine airport restaurants?

I’ve been to Taos multiple times and have spent the night there once and never have experienced the hum at any location in the area, including Taos Pueblo. Guess my ears just aren’t tuned for low frequencies.

Visited the Taos Pueblo a little over a year ago. It’s a hella rough ride to the place, but WELL worth it.

That was kind of a stupid clickbait article, but somehow I enjoyed it so I’ll give it a Med+ rating.

:^)

Hot dogs come in all different counts; Nathan’s brand (which is what I usually get) is five, six, eight, or sixteen, depending on what one wants, maybe other sizes as well; Hebrew National is a seven pack; most hotdogs are eight packs nowadays, although the alleged meat dogs that are not all beef (mechanically separated pork, chicken, turkey, other formerly living things) come in ten or twelve at the discount grocers (last I checked, I won’t eat those, period). Koegel, the usually skinless Michigan-made brand, makes foot longs for the summer trade, and at that same period of time, the foot long buns are available, but the truth is, I’m not sure how many are in either pack. Generally the bun packs are eights. Those buns also will work for brats, but the number of weiners in the brat packs (smirk) vary by brand etc.

I get Aunt Millie 80 calorie buns, which are much lower in carbs. I ate the last one around dinner time, so I’m at the halfway mark in the Nathan’s 16 pack I got. Big dogs too.

Vannrox posted a bunch of clickbait yesterday, I just haven’t got round to reading those yet, but decided I’d get into the act. This link came up while I was looking for stuff about that unfinished pyramid that is in the list.

Then why do they sell batteries in packs of 5? This is something I’ve been curious about for a long time.

It’s sublte, I guess, I’ve never been there or heard it. First read of it in William Corliss’ Science Frontiers.
