Publicity film for the New York Central's Twentieth Century Limited all first class overnight express (17hrs) between Chicago and New York. This particular train is where the term "the red carpet treatment" came from.

The NYC’s Broadway Limited was also a top class competitor of the 20th Century Limited.
I look at pics and videos of these trains and realize that I was born about 25 years too late.
How great it would have been to have travelled on these trains - even if it were just a coach seat.
The Broadway Limited was run by the New York Central’s chief competitor, the Pennsylvania Railroad. And it was also a top notch all first class express service that was highly regarded.
I recall listening to a nightly 15 minute radio program, back in the 40’s, in which actors, athletes, politicians and various sundry celebrities were interviewed prior to boarding the 20th Century Limited, bound for Chicago.
Awesome! Always reminds me of Hitchcock’s “North by Northwest.”

I love steam and steam trains. Youtube is full of the videos and I enjoy the ones that are filmed in the countries that are still using steam. A lot of them in Java on the sugar plantations and of course India.
Amtrak runs travel tours cross country on several routes.
