In our house we had six remote control units - us kids - we had to sit in a rickety old chair next to the TV and change channels on command...and we only got 4 channels! And God help you if you messed with the vertical hold button by accident.

When I was a tyke I would use the horizontal hold to roll the frames until I found the best one.

We had one of these. The setting varied with the season!

We had a rotary antenna about 30 ft up on a metal pole. But it
didn’t really matter as we had CBS, ABC, NBC and that was it. So
one direction basically got all three because of their locations.

My BIL says that he thought his name was “dammit” when he was a kid.

We also had Channel 13 in Newark. Later, in NYC, you could only get Channel 13 without cable, because the networks were blocked by the tall buildings.
