HLNs S.E. Cuppwho used to appear on Fox Newshad some tough words for the network tonight over the ongoing scrutiny surrounding Sean Hannity.
She reviewed the Fox News hosts lawyer problem over the revelation of his connection to Trump lawyer Michael Cohen and the lack-of-disclosure issue.
On this face, it seems obvious, she said. Its a clear conflict of interest for Hannity to defend Cohen and his star client, the President of the United States, on his show regularly without revealing one of the reasons he might be doing so.
But the bigger issue here, Cupp argued, is about Fox News and its place in the sphere of cable news:
It is increasingly becoming untethered from the standard preconceptions of what we expect news to be. Now, to call Fox infotainment is not new, nor do I think its particularly pejorative. Like other cable news channels, the network offers a melange of colorful personalities, ideological outrage, and, yes, good reporting too. Opinion infiltrated cable news long ago, but increasingly, and especially at Fox opinion, is not rooted in fact anymore. Instead alarmingly it is sometimes rooted in flat-out fiction, and more often than not in feelings.
She brought up Hannitys macabre obsession with Seth Rich and provably untrue things hes said.
While talking with Frank Sesno about the responsibility Hannity has to disclose, Cupp said as an opinion host, its been important to me to support my opinion through reporting and double-sourcing and facts.

She’s delusional if she thinks the people out to get Hannity won’t go after her eventually.
Im still thinking about what you said. Does it have something to with where the bottle caps land?
See ya, Ms. Cupp.
The former Red Eye show crew, that ended a year ago, went their separate ways. So I was unhappy Andy Levy, Ombudsman, joined S.E. Cupp’s show. Bill Schultz has a radio show with of all people Joanne Noschuinsky who had replaced Bill on Red Eye and so former red Eye guests come on that. But Tom Shilue also has a radio show as well. I didn’t care for Cupp, but recall her from Red Eye.
It is her around 2010 when she did Red Eye. She left in 2011 or 2012 to join Glenn Beck and when that blew up she landed on CNN/HLN.
That isn’t her.
SE Cupp is an atheist, IIRC. She may very well be a George Will type atheist/conservative: knows more than you and won’t tolerate any of us deplorables actually getting something done.
A talking head. Only.
OK, coming from other media it is laughable. We all know there is a strong relationship between the media and the Obama administration. Officials married to members of the media, or even family thereof. Did any of them, before covering a story about the administration, ever disclose their relationships?
As far as Trump, Hannity has nothing to explain. The fact he used the same lawyer is as relevant as if they used the same dentist. Now in covering Cohen, yes, perhaps, in interest of full disclosure, it might have been a good thing. But even Hannity explained, it wasn’t even much of a relationship. He was barely if not at all a client. He just asked some questions.
And why isn’t the left furious that a judge forced Cohen to disclose such private information?
