Study: AC/DC’s ‘Highway To Hell’ More Theologically Accurate Than 96% Of Modern Worship Songs-SATIRE

U.S.—A recent survey performed by CCLI confirmed that AC/DC’s hard rock classic “Highway to Hell” is more theologically accurate than 96% of the songs that most worship bands play on any given Sunday. The study examined over 800 songs and compared their theology to the Scriptures, and found that the Australian rock group’s 1979 classic was “significantly more accurate” than over 96% of them.

“While modern worship songs tend to contain little theology, an anemic view of sin, and a poor understanding of the work of the Holy Spirit, ‘Highway to Hell’ has a very biblical view of the doctrine of hell,” a CCLI rep said. “Lead singer Bon Scott had a clear understanding of man’s natural inclination toward sin and the inevitable judgment of God that follows.”

“Just take a look at some of those lyrics in that hard-hitting first verse,” the head CCLI researcher told reporters. “‘Don’t need reason, don’t need rhyme, Ain’t nothing I would rather do / Going down, party time, My friends are gonna be there too.'”

“Bon Scott’s understanding of mankind’s depravity clearly rivaled anything Paul wrote in the third chapter of Romans,” he added. “It’s better than that song that keeps inviting the Holy Spirit in like He’s some kind of coy puppy dog.”

Further findings confirmed that other metal classics like Iron Maiden’s “The Number of the Beast,” Metallica’s “Master of Puppets,” and Megadeth’s “Symphony of Destruction” were also more accurate than most songs played on Air1 or K-LOVE.

Good little summary. Easy to copy off for making a little note to distribute. Thanks!

By the way, all the passages you refer to in your length response are dealt with in the link I posted much earlier. Did you take any time to examine that serious study? If not, why should I respond to your lengthy one?

I was dealing with the overall denial of eternal torment - which is the only reality that would have much of a deterrent effect which would warrant the equivalent of plucking your eye out versus fulfilling lusts for decades and simply facing annihilation - but i hope to provide a analysis of your linked PDF (which format is not designed to be quoted from) when i have the energy and time warrants it. .

Please tell me the first passage the author misuses.

The article was on "Jesus' Teaching on Hell". The first twenty pages are devoted to saying the Old Testament never teaches about hell but rather "national punishment". Then the author goes on throughout the article to poo-poo some of the passages which DOES talk about Sheol (Hell).

When the article finally arrives to what Jesus taught, albeit briefly. The author tries very hard to negate or water down "the twelve sayings" on the matter by Christ-as if the author has some special insight to very plain teachings on the matter. Can anyone say "genostic"? Somehow the author seems to be saying that Jesus was teaching there is no hell but that this was all about judgment on a nation. Of course he doesn't seem to want to devout any time to a study of other passages such as the rich man and Lazarus.

I also find it remarkable that by page 28 the author is contrasting and comparing Jesus' teaching to that of Homer, Josephus, and the likes; as if he feels these are equally inspired teaching on par with that of Christ. It is no wonder the author is confused if he cannot understand God's wisdom verses man.

What is astonishing in all this "Catholic" tripe is the author appears to have forgotten ONE very important reference on the matter. A reference that I would think any Catholic should know-that of Peter. Peter is very clear as to what happens to the ungodly when he stated:

It is astonishing and remarkable that the author could ignore such a text, given that Peter was suppose to be the first pope.

It is very clear what Peter is talking about as well as what our Lord Jesus is talking about. The article you posted is nothing more than false teaching.
