An article in the Yale Daily News today gives us more insight into the life of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. And boy, is it exciting stuff.
Kavanaugh attended Yale Law School from ‘87 to ‘90, during which time, according to classmates, he enjoyed playing devil’s advocate in conversations with his black friend, eating pasta with ketchup, and looking down his nose at friends who enjoyed watching Jeopardy. What a fun dude.
His friends also remember his painfully dull taste in food.
[W]hen it came to food, the future Supreme Court pick found hardly anything palatable, Christmas said. Kavanaugh was a “bland eater,” his roommate explained, who never ate his pasta with anything more exotic than tomato sauce or ketchup on top. [...] “When he had spaghetti sauce, it was ragu — he didn’t want anything spicier than that,” Hartmann added.
Kavanaugh’s fellow Yalies have mostly positive memories of the former law student, who they note, rarely spoke about politics. Kenneth Christmas, however, remembers discussing a few issues with him:
Christmas, who is African-American, recalled conversations with Kavanaugh about protections for minorities. The two often discussed minority rights, he said, and the role of the state and federal governments in determining those rights.
“He was sort of the guy that would argue both sides,” Christmas said. “I don’t think he sees himself as an ideologue in any way. I think he sees himself as someone who has intellectual rigor in how he looks at the law.”
Another friend, Jim Brochin, told the Yale Daily News that over their 25 year friendship, they discussed politics less than five times.
This shouldn’t surprise anyone. Kavanaugh is exactly the kind of debate club nerd who sees politics as irrelevant to his life—because they are. As a rich white guy, the political realities of the world have little to no bearing on him. He’s free to debate interpretations of the Constitution to his heart’s content, without worrying that the laws he upholds or overturns may negatively impact him or someone he loves. Must be nice!
While writers like Akhil Reed Amar may see Kavanaugh’s lack of apparent ideology (read: his investment in the status quo) as something to recommend him to power, anyone with an actual stake in what the Supreme Court decides on issues like abortion or affirmative action knows better. Once you understand the impacts that politics can have on actual human beings, your ability to play “both sides” greatly diminishes.
Never mind that other reports have said Kavanaugh has somewhere between $15,000 and $50,000 his banking account.

I have trouble with "heat". Mexican food is a nightmare. I think I am just more sensitive to it than other people. Perhaps Kavanaugh is the same. His palatte may overreact to this type of seasoning.
These lefties are really reaching when the only thing they can come up with is that he eats bland food. Do they actually think people won't approve him because he has mundane taste in food? What maroons.
I don't think Obama actuallly attended college. I think the Powers That Be decided to just give him the correct resume, including an unearned diploma, to waft him into the presidency.

I cannot get over the fact that he was President of the Harvard Law Review and never wrote an article for that publication while he was the President of the Harvard Law Review. Unheard of for that to happen; but, just another question mark in the life of BO.

Winners are selected by the HFF board of directors and receive $250,000 apiece with their prize. Donald Berwick, Marian Wright Edelman, Paul Ehrlich, James Hansen, Hal Harvey, John Holdren, and August Wilson have been among the more notable Heinz Award recipients over the years. Among the many groups funded by the Heinz Family Foundation are the Brookings Institution, the Earth Action Network, the Earth Island Institute, the Environmental Defense Fund, the Environmental Media Association, the Environmental Working Group, the Feminist Majority Foundation, Global Exchange, the League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Nature Conservancy, Oxfam America, Physicians for Social Responsibility, the Tides Foundation and Tides Center, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and Women’s Policy.
Between 1993 and 2001, HFF awarded $57,300 in grants to the League of Conservation Voters (LCV). Then, early in the 2004 election cycle, LCV purchased and aired “One Candidate,” a political ad promoting the presidential campaign of Democratic Senator John Kerry, the husband of Teresa Heinz Kerry. “There’s only one candidate [Kerry] who can take on President Bush, with a record of fighting for clean water, clean air, and making polluters pay,” said the ad, which ran in Arizona and New Mexico prior to the Democratic primaries in those states.
HFF has also given at least $20,000 to the Justice Through Music Project (JTMP), a Maryland-based nonprofit that promotes radical environmentalist agendas, supports the anti-capitalist goals of the Occupy Wall Street movement, and claims to have registered some 100,000 people to vote between 2005-12. JTMP was founded by Brett Kimberlin, a former drug dealer who spent almost 17 years in prison after being convicted of detonating several bombs in a 1978 terror spree in Speedway, Indiana. As investigative journalist Matt Vaduum writes, “The litigious Kimberlin brags about the legal skills he acquired behind bars. The felon-cum-progressive activist targets people who write about him or who just plain annoy him.” Kimberlin has repeatedly sought have conservative bloggers, authors, and political figures arrested.
