I like everything about these back-up shooters. They are absolutely perfect for smaller, weaker and very old support arms.

I especially like the Beretta.

6-8 extra 92FS mags loaded with 124gr hollow points and fired through a 16in barrel...should result in about 1300fps.

Hot home loads will give you 1400fps. Especially if you use slow burning pistol magnum powders.

NOBODY want to get hit with a 124gr hollow point traveling 1400fps.

And you 'ol lady or young son can hit a man in the eye with one of these at 50 meters.

I’m no .22 fan for defense but by the numbers .22LR has killed more people, I believe, than any other caliber.

I passed on a chance to buy a Marlin Camp .45. It took 1911 magazines. I think they guy wanted $300 or so. I should have snapped it up.

I’ve butchered many a beef I dropped with a .22LR.

I do wish that someone would make a semi auto 17HMR pistol though.

The M1 carbine rd is not considered a pistol caliber.

Even though it’s like a pistol round, it is a rifle round and the article was about pistol-caliber carbines. M1 carbine is a cool little firearm though.

Several handguns have been chambered for .30 carbine over the years. But I get your point.

What is a pistol caliber these days?

They have chambered pistols in 460 Weatherby.

I have had a Contender pistol in 357 Herrett for many years. It is a shortened and blown out 30-30.

I now have its bigger brother, the 358 Yeti, chambered for the AR-15. It is a shortened and blown out .308.

I also had a 256 Ferrett Carbine. It used a 357 Magnum case necked down to 25 Cal and shot out of a modified M1 Carbine. Also known as the 256 Win Mag.

My BIL has a .30 carbine pistol. The local indoor pistol range will not allow him to shoot it there.

But not until after it was introduced in a rifle. But a great little round. With a soft point it basically delivers a 357 mags power at the muzzle out at 100 yards.
But people love to prattle on about how weak it is.

My local indoor pistol range won't allow me to shoot hot handloads out of my 45LC revolver.

That’s true. 22LR is only a weak cartridge to anyone who hasn’t been shot by one. A 22LR at close range can penetrate the sternum and enter the heart.

The 4 most dangerous words, “It’s only a 22.”
