Colloidal silver has not been shown effective against new virus from China

CLAIM: Colloidal silver products can help prevent or protect against the new coronavirus from China.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. The silver solution has no known benefit in the body when ingested, according to officials with the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, a federal scientific research agency.

THE FACTS: Colloidal silver is made up of silver particles suspended in a liquid. The liquid solution has often been falsely peddled as a miracle solution to boost the immune system and cure diseases.

Social media users have most recently linked it to products to address the new virus that emerged from China. But experts have long said that the solution has no known function or health benefits and it comes with serious side effects. The FDA has taken action against companies promoting colloidal silver products with misleading claims.

“There are no complementary products, such as colloidal silver or herbal remedies, that have been proven effective in preventing or treating this disease (COVID-19), and colloidal silver can have serious side effects,” Dr. Helene Langevin, National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health director, said in a statement.

The NCCIH says colloidal silver has the power to turn skin blue when silver builds up in the body’s tissue.

In 2002, The Associated Press reported that the skin of a Libertarian Senate candidate in Montana turned blue-gray after taking too much colloidal silver. The candidate, Stan Jones, made the solution himself and began taking it in 1999 to prepare for Y2K disruptions, according to the report.

On Wednesday, televangelist Jim Bakker interviewed a guest on his show who promoted silver solution products, claiming the substance had been tested on previous coronavirus strains and eliminated them in hours. She said it had not been tested on the new coronavirus.

So I shouldn’t try to convince people I hate that colloidal silver will give them immortality?

I'd welcome links to any human studies on this. Or animal studies. I looked into this a couple of weeks ago and just couldn't find anything. I believe the following is known.

"No known benefit..."

I have used it to cure a kidney infection. It worked overnight. Of course I treated it like any other antibiotic. I repeated the dose for five days. Colloidal silver is an antibiotic to which the pathogens do not develop immunity. That is why silver is used in bandages at the wound care center, that and they can charge you insane prices for it. Of course the Pharmacology manufacturers don't want people using colloidal silver because there is no profit for them.

But more on Garlic...

SEE HERE:

CLAIM: Garlic can help cure the new coronavirus.

THE FACTS: There is no evidence that garlic cures the virus. While garlic does have antimicrobial properties, WHO said that there is no evidence that eating garlic will help with the virus.

If garlic is effective, there shouldn’t be any cases in Korea.

This site has some links to some studies. Don't know if reputable.

I think there are a lot of studies showing silver's use in wound care. But studies on the effectiveness of using it internally seem few and far between.

The NCCIH says colloidal silver has the power to turn skin blue when silver builds up in the body’s tissue.

What utter BS. The way they are talking about delivery, via suspended solution, you body can never absorb enough to turn you blue or get too much in your body to cause harm. Believe me, my doctor has me on it now for mold in my system.

We went round and round about this and he showed me all the data.

I am not sure who this NCHISHSHBS bureaucratic dipshits are, but I think I am going to listen to my dr.

I couldn’t find any human studies.

Obviously, there are no patents on silver so big Pharma is not about to test silver products, except to conduct a disinformation campaign against all homeopathic treatment methods. You are on your own to do the research, such as it is, and decide why this remedy has been around for over a hundred years. Before big Pharma came up with huge money making manufactured antibiotics, silver was in use to treat a wide variety of bacteria, viruses, and other diseases. Now it’s taboo. When I mentioned silver to my private physician, the first thing he said was it will turn your skin blue. That’s all he knew about it. Bottom line each must make up their own mind.
