Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty announced Monday that they want to meet with acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf and other agency leaders “immediately” to talk about how to remove federal officers from the city.
A one-sentence joint statement from the city officials calls for meeting in Portland and discussing a “cease-fire” in addition to the removal of officers. A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The sought-after “end to federal occupation” comes after federal officers have been deployed to Portland on orders from President Donald Trump to stop protesters from graffitiing downtown federal buildings during demonstrations, including the Mark O. Hatfield Courthouse. It also comes two weeks after Wolf visited Portland to survey the damage to the building and Wheeler said he wouldn’t meet the DHS secretary if asked.
When asked what caused Wheeler to change his mind, a mayor’s office spokesperson said, “He wants to put an end to the violence and destruction.”
Together, Wheeler and Hardesty oversee Portland’s first responder bureaus. Wheeler is the police commissioner and Hardesty manages the city’s fire, 911 and emergency preparedness agencies.

So, he wants the feds to leave Portland so Antifa can burn the courthouse. Is this supposed to be some kind of compromise? How about this: leave the courthouse alone and go attack Ted Wheeler’s building. Antifa can have their fun and no federal “troops” will bother them.
Of course he is. But in November, he faces off with Sarah Iannarone, a Democratic Socialist, for the office of Mayor. As bad as Portland is now, picture it with an Antifa mayor.
So they want to go for full secession. These are insurrectionists and should be arrested before they get a lot more people killed.

Was this all because he was white? This man was simply protesting real life government over reach and was murdered for it. I guess some are a little more equal under the law than some of us others.

I lived in Belltown years ago, and in our precinct there were 11 REPUBLICANS, of which we were 2, and 768 DEMOCRATS!!! LOST!
Wheeler and Hardesty are nuts and empty suits.
