Terri's Day and nation's independence protects life culture

America's Culture of Life is truly the legacy of one woman whose death forever changed our nation because of actions that were not in her hands but in those of her husband and his lawyers. Yet for millions of Americans we will forever link our own celebration of our nation's independence to the courage of the Schindler family to go forward past the tragedy, past the personal sorrow, past the searing anguish to help America draw a distinct line in the sand, to issue a clarion call to America.
Our 4th of July is coming... Our Culture of Life Independence Day is on its way. Our month of Independence is a message that March 31st (Terri's Day) will signal, that July 4th will signal... and that the month of July will signal to defend the Culture of Life before we lose it forever.
When we talked with our family members or even our neighbors or our friends we may have spent but a moment reflecting upon why we are even gathered on a Memorial Day afternoon. Do we think about the sacrifice of our soldiers and of their families? Do we think about the long goodbyes which are never long enough... as the military families send their loved ones to war, to battle, to stand firm for our freedoms... for our life... for our nation and its values of faith?
How does Terri Schiavo and her legacy tie into this? Terri's legacy and Terri's Day is a representation of a right to live, and freedom to have the liberty to not have it compromised away, devalued by inconvenience, or litigated away by judges who celebrate a culture of death that would rob life from the womb, steal life from a hospital or hospice bed, and destroy and shatter a family's love for a daughter, a sister and aunt who was given a gift from God, but had it separated from her as easily as an ant would have its life take by an uncaring shoe... extinguished forever.
The families who send their loved ones off to war have to wonder as well, does America value their sacrifice? The families of the military have to wonder just where does its society draw the line on its values? A soldier who is in battle in Iraq or Afghanistan has to wonder if a Florida judge can take away the life of an innocent, what is the measure of his life? Would a judge in America suddenly decide that if he were injured, if he had to sacrifice a limb that the protesters outside his hospital bed would have more rights than he would or his family? Would this soldier have to wonder that if he or his fellow soldier were killed in battle, that upon their return that the protesters who would stand outside of his funeral... have more rights to be protected than the rights his family would have to a military burial with honor?
You see, the Culture of Life is about Terri Schiavo, because Americans now have to examine the life of our culture itself. We have to wonder if we as a nation of Christians and of a nation of faith and of a nation of compassion would allow for a state to murder an innocent woman and strip her family of their loved one then as a nation would we allow America to have other symbols of life, of our nation to be peeled away as well, all in open sight and in plain view of a dispassionate nation?
What does our American Culture mean if we allow millions of illegal aliens to literally browbeat us into submission by demanding that because they have stolen across our borders, demanded and received protection from local law enforcement in numerous cities throughout the U. S., obtained free or reduced educational opportunities by state public colleges that our own children could not qualify to receive the same financial aid assistance for. Are we that defenseless to let illegals strip our state coffers of housing assistance for loans and mortgages when tens of thousands in almost every state in America have legal citizens who are homeless, impoverished, or working poor or middle class Americans who need similar assistance but cannot receive it. And they are legal! They are citizens! They are Americans.
What is so wrong about our nation when we are so ready to compromise our freedoms, our culture's life, the life of an innocent and the taking of any life is the taking of our own children's life and their child's. And with each successive generation the nation and its life, its values, its traditions, and its language will disappear because we as Americans were too preoccupied — too narrow — to see that an illegal alien was taking your child's education, that a crusading death culture judge was preparing a bed, a room, a legal precedent to take your child, grandchild or sister or parent.
That is why I have stayed my course to defend the Culture of Life and to ask my fellow Americans to begin to understand that as Terri Schiavo's life was slowly ebbing from her body and as her mother Mary, father Bob, sister Suzanne, and brother Bobby waited in the Florida early morning air on March 31st, 2005, America was having part of its soul ebb away as well.
What will it take to spark an interest, a concern, and a passion for protecting one's own life? Some may say that it would take a clear and present danger — like tanks rolling down your neighborhood street or another 9/11 that strikes at the heart of America. Do we have the convenience to wait? Do we wait until a state legislature in Maine or California or Delaware or Ohio or Illinois decides that your mother's decision to live is determined by a hospital "bean counter" who decides that your mother's life is not based upon a "Will To Live" but an ability to pay her bill? What about a baby, not born, but already set for murder in the womb — not because the mother is pro-life or pro-death but because "the law" says the unborn baby's life is expendable because the baby's genes are determined to be part of a class or a group or a race or of an ethnicity which pre-programs the child, un-born, to death?
America is being murdered in small pieces. It is seeing its values, its life, its culture disemboweled with the finesse of a skilled surgeon. And it is America's poll takers and its legislators and its uncaring, disinterested, and uninvolved who are handling the scalpel. Take the scalpel away. Even if it is to sign a pledge, hand out a flyer, become aware of legislators and judicial candidates who have agreed to stand firm for the Culture of Life — a crusade that is based not only upon the life of Terri Schiavo's legacy but equally crucial based also upon the legacy of the right to live, to defend our culture and the life of its values.
Terri's Day is not the end of a national movement but the beginning of a national contract with itself to stand for a future that our nation can guarantee for its children and for a culture that will insure life. The right to live will be Terri's legacy — our legacy... one nation under God. Join us in your homes, on your family picnics, out camping and celebrating July 14th and 15th ... Our American Culture of Life belongs to each and every one of us... We must protect it. Let's celebrate together.

As I said, I am interested in hearing an intelligent debate between people on both sides of the issue. I am actually very neutral on the issue since I don't really care one way or the other. What does completely turn me off is the rhetoric involved. It doesn't matter how right, or wrong, anyone is when I start hearing emotionally charged buzzwords such as "death culture", "lovers of death", etc... repeated ad infinitum. All that does is turn someone away who might otherwise be willing to listen. If the facts really are on your side, there is no need to resort to those types of scare tactics.

So why were replies to me laced with comments like "death culture" and "lovers of death"?
It is Judge Jones whose remarks were strident, mean and false. He betrayed his past supporters precisely by failing to uphold the law. He betrayed the law itself. The First Amendment does, after all, guarantee the freedom of all religion, not just Darwinism.
The terms are descriptive of a philosophy and its political agenda that seek to undermine the right to life in America. No other term fits. Right-to-die, euthanasia, assisted suicide and other such causes -- all of these strands are part of something larger that we term the death cult or death culture. It does fit them all.
The term is not necessarily pejorative. If you find it so, but want to be part of that movement without revealing your beliefs, suggest another name.
My Grandfather just died two days ago. His body was shutting down and decided he did not want to be put on life support. He lasted about 24 hours before passing. Does this mean he is part of a 'death cult' in your eyes?

I am not even sure what 'that movement' is so I have no idea if I would want to be a part of it or not.

Your choice. My only suggestion is that you read very, very deeply before you dip your feet in those waters. There are grave dangers in giving your energies and enthusiasms to the wrong philosophies.
I already said I am in the middle since I don't know enough about the issues to decide one way or the other. All I asked is for a pointer to an intelligent debate on the issues. Why is that so difficult to provide?
I've spent nearly three years investigating the case and learning the facts. Are you prepared to do the same?
Of course not. I have other things in my life that are more important at this point. What is so hard about providing a pointer to an intelligent debate on the subject?

So, since I don't have three years of my life to dedicate to learning all the inns-and-outs of the debate, I should remain ignorant? What is so hard with providing information so that I can make up my mind on the subject? I am trying as hard as I can to keep an open mind on this topic but your replies are making it very difficult.
Since your comments were directed largely at me, let me add a couple of points.
I am sorry about your grandfather and I realize you are upset about this as some of us on this thread have been about our own losses. Nothing unnatural about this, nothing involving "death culture" or "death lovers".
You will not be able to redefine our discussions as a debate between those for and those against what happened to Terri. I stated it a couple times earlier. That is not a debate any more than a fair debate between a priest and a devil. It is defense against an attack.
If you were to pursue this topic in depth, and it would probably not be good timing for you considering the passing of your grandfather, you would find the subject much more basic, a clash of good and evil on a very fundamental basis.
The Legacy of Terri is a flagship case, brought about by dark motives many years ago and perpetuated by a portion of our humanity which truly embraces death and dying above all other things that matter to them. Its origin is in the far distant past and was fought by people of good will ever since. We use the example of the White Rose, some who have led the way in Nazi Germany with challenges, fatal to themselves, against the regime itself.
Quite a few of the regular posters here were actually at the scene as events unfolded, so more than kibbitzers, we were actively witnessing the events unfolding. On scene, all sides (and it was overwhelmingly skewed to those of good will) recognized this epic battle, that of decent people fending off a whole gaggle of dark forces, those who would mold us in America according to the patterns of Hitler's Germany. Their emissaries became vocal spokespeople, like recently departed Dr. Death. They attacked us on every front, with the media, with propaganda, with slogans eagerly lapped up by the more compliant and less informed. We fought back with exposure to the facts, to the evidence.
Nor does it matter to our efforts which faith you may bring to this forum. All we could imagine were represented in this clash, including atheists and wiccans, on our side against this Mengele/Kervorkian march to State sponsored death. Especially we who are Christians witnessed the amazing parallel of events unfolding in lockstep to Holy Week and Easter, with Terri's death followed immediately by her champion in the Catholic faith, the Pope himself.
If you listen thoroughly to the audio, and I realize it takes patience, and if you remove preconceptions, realizing those discussing, are not just rattling off mantras like our adversaries use, you will glimpse what happened to the murder of Terri.
If you acquire a source book such as the one I commended to you, that of Cheryl Ford, you will see hard evidence of a crime and justice unrequited. I will be posting more from Cheryl Ford today.
T'wit was telling you that many here have looked into this deeply and despite emotional accusations projected by our detractors that we are emotional, we have looked the evidence over through and through and have poked holes in any that did not past muster, so we know what happened, more than just opinion.
Your entry into the forum was aggressive, accusative, and touching of sarcasm. That makes us shy away from embracing a cactus. This is the way of real trolls, who have nothing in their hardened hearts to reach, so naturally, we are wary of such initial appearances. But Charity is held here in high esteem and if you truly want to learn, we are glad to help you past your own emotions to the realities of this epic battle.
Our threads aren't about keeping people alive at all costs as the detractors like to claim, we are not against people passing in a natural way, as it appears happened to your grandfather. We are against an organized effort to remove our options with sanctions of the State, to kill us whether any of us like it or not. That is our fight, that is the Legacy of Terri.
It is a real fight. Look at our recent links, look at the others like Andrea Clark. If we acquiesce like sheep, we will be like the victims of Hitler's Germany once again.
That is the "death culture". Those are the "death lovers". Our "movement" is simply of people of good will against those who advocate the power to have us killed.

Terri on the road to recovery before the second stage began.
MICHAEL Smerconish recently devoted a column to our reaction to his participation in a seminar at Penn concerning Terri Schiavo.
We wrote that the seminar "celebrated the death of Terri Schiavo." He objected.
In March 2005, at the request of her husband, a Florida judge ordered that Terri Schiavo be denied liquids and food until death. Many Americans protested this incredible cruelty, but 13 days later, she died.
This was not a case of foolishly keeping a dead person alive through the use of a machine. Terri was not dying or ill. She had been injured by cardiac arrest. She responded to care and a feeding tube was used to supply the nutrition and hydration required by all of us.
