Terri's Day and nation's independence protects life culture

Kevin Fobbs May 29, 2006

America's Culture of Life is truly the legacy of one woman whose death forever changed our nation because of actions that were not in her hands but in those of her husband and his lawyers. Yet for millions of Americans we will forever link our own celebration of our nation's independence to the courage of the Schindler family to go forward past the tragedy, past the personal sorrow, past the searing anguish to help America draw a distinct line in the sand, to issue a clarion call to America.

Our 4th of July is coming... Our Culture of Life Independence Day is on its way. Our month of Independence is a message that March 31st (Terri's Day) will signal, that July 4th will signal... and that the month of July will signal to defend the Culture of Life before we lose it forever.

When we talked with our family members or even our neighbors or our friends we may have spent but a moment reflecting upon why we are even gathered on a Memorial Day afternoon. Do we think about the sacrifice of our soldiers and of their families? Do we think about the long goodbyes which are never long enough... as the military families send their loved ones to war, to battle, to stand firm for our freedoms... for our life... for our nation and its values of faith?

How does Terri Schiavo and her legacy tie into this? Terri's legacy and Terri's Day is a representation of a right to live, and freedom to have the liberty to not have it compromised away, devalued by inconvenience, or litigated away by judges who celebrate a culture of death that would rob life from the womb, steal life from a hospital or hospice bed, and destroy and shatter a family's love for a daughter, a sister and aunt who was given a gift from God, but had it separated from her as easily as an ant would have its life take by an uncaring shoe... extinguished forever.

The families who send their loved ones off to war have to wonder as well, does America value their sacrifice? The families of the military have to wonder just where does its society draw the line on its values? A soldier who is in battle in Iraq or Afghanistan has to wonder if a Florida judge can take away the life of an innocent, what is the measure of his life? Would a judge in America suddenly decide that if he were injured, if he had to sacrifice a limb that the protesters outside his hospital bed would have more rights than he would or his family? Would this soldier have to wonder that if he or his fellow soldier were killed in battle, that upon their return that the protesters who would stand outside of his funeral... have more rights to be protected than the rights his family would have to a military burial with honor?

You see, the Culture of Life is about Terri Schiavo, because Americans now have to examine the life of our culture itself. We have to wonder if we as a nation of Christians and of a nation of faith and of a nation of compassion would allow for a state to murder an innocent woman and strip her family of their loved one then as a nation would we allow America to have other symbols of life, of our nation to be peeled away as well, all in open sight and in plain view of a dispassionate nation?

What does our American Culture mean if we allow millions of illegal aliens to literally browbeat us into submission by demanding that because they have stolen across our borders, demanded and received protection from local law enforcement in numerous cities throughout the U. S., obtained free or reduced educational opportunities by state public colleges that our own children could not qualify to receive the same financial aid assistance for. Are we that defenseless to let illegals strip our state coffers of housing assistance for loans and mortgages when tens of thousands in almost every state in America have legal citizens who are homeless, impoverished, or working poor or middle class Americans who need similar assistance but cannot receive it. And they are legal! They are citizens! They are Americans.

What is so wrong about our nation when we are so ready to compromise our freedoms, our culture's life, the life of an innocent and the taking of any life is the taking of our own children's life and their child's. And with each successive generation the nation and its life, its values, its traditions, and its language will disappear because we as Americans were too preoccupied — too narrow — to see that an illegal alien was taking your child's education, that a crusading death culture judge was preparing a bed, a room, a legal precedent to take your child, grandchild or sister or parent.

That is why I have stayed my course to defend the Culture of Life and to ask my fellow Americans to begin to understand that as Terri Schiavo's life was slowly ebbing from her body and as her mother Mary, father Bob, sister Suzanne, and brother Bobby waited in the Florida early morning air on March 31st, 2005, America was having part of its soul ebb away as well.

What will it take to spark an interest, a concern, and a passion for protecting one's own life? Some may say that it would take a clear and present danger — like tanks rolling down your neighborhood street or another 9/11 that strikes at the heart of America. Do we have the convenience to wait? Do we wait until a state legislature in Maine or California or Delaware or Ohio or Illinois decides that your mother's decision to live is determined by a hospital "bean counter" who decides that your mother's life is not based upon a "Will To Live" but an ability to pay her bill? What about a baby, not born, but already set for murder in the womb — not because the mother is pro-life or pro-death but because "the law" says the unborn baby's life is expendable because the baby's genes are determined to be part of a class or a group or a race or of an ethnicity which pre-programs the child, un-born, to death?

America is being murdered in small pieces. It is seeing its values, its life, its culture disemboweled with the finesse of a skilled surgeon. And it is America's poll takers and its legislators and its uncaring, disinterested, and uninvolved who are handling the scalpel. Take the scalpel away. Contact www.Terrisfight.org to join the Foundation's battle to educate America about the right to live. Go to Terri's Day on www.kevinfobbs.com to learn about new updates on Terri's Day and the event to celebrate the Culture of life.

So on Independence Day and Independence month of July will we have any Americans who will sign up and join the Culture of Life movement in their community? Even if it is to sign a pledge, hand out a flyer, become aware of legislators and judicial candidates who have agreed to stand firm for the Culture of Life — a crusade that is based not only upon the life of Terri Schiavo's legacy but equally crucial based also upon the legacy of the right to live, to defend our culture and the life of its values.

Terri's Day is not the end of a national movement but the beginning of a national contract with itself to stand for a future that our nation can guarantee for its children and for a culture that will insure life. The right to live will be Terri's legacy — our legacy... one nation under God. Join us in your homes, on your family picnics, out camping and celebrating July 14th and 15th ... Our American Culture of Life belongs to each and every one of us... We must protect it. Let's celebrate together.

Mor on Mikey, from LifeNews...

Clearwater, FL (LifeNews.com) -- Michael Schiavo's political action committee set up to target candidates and elected officials who supported Terri Schiavo and her family's efforts to prevent her euthanasia death has made its next endorsement. The PAC has endorsed Hillsborough County Commissioner Kathy Castor, a Democrat running in Florida's 11th congressional district.

Castor is seeking the seat pro-abortion Rep. Jim Davis, a Democrat who is running for governor to replace outgoing pro-life Gov. Jeb Bush, who backed Terri's parents and signed legislation Florida lawmakers passed seeking to stop the euthanasia.

"Mike was talking about having, you know, around-the-clock help, physical therapy, and all of this good stuff for Terri. And he was also going to move the Schindlers in because they had no place to live. And when it came out there was only $1 million to take care of Terri for the rest of her life, there was not going to be money to do that".

WHAT????!!!

Okay, nevermind. When dealing with pathological liars, never be surprised by what comes out of their mouths.

My Grandfather just died two days ago. His body was shutting down and decided he did not want to be put on life support. He lasted about 24 hours before passing. Does this mean he is part of a 'death cult' in your eyes?

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Your grandfather made a wise decision in his case. It was his time. Did he happen to mention wanting to meet up with his wife? Both my mom and ex mother in law(ex bro in law told me this)stated it was time to be with their husbands. When this happens, it's time to fly home.

As for a blanket term for those who believe it is beneficial to institute euthanasia policies towards the disabled, how about nihilists? I'll try and come up with a couple of better ones, but my brain is in neutral this morning.

I am sorry about your grandfather. His and Terri's case are two very different cases.

I'll just mention a few of the difference: Terri never expressed the desire to die - this was fabricated years later after her estranged husband won the lawsuit for money for her rehabilitation. This estranged husband with a live-in mistress, illegitimate children, and a vested interest in her death was made her guardian. Experts were not permitted to examine her, and her medical records hidden. She was treated horribly while she still was alive. Judge Greer denied her due process - she never had a lawyer. Her parents weren't even allowed to photograph her, bring her flowers, or have normal visits with her. Then there were all the lies Michael told and the numerous laws that Judge Greer broke and has never been made accountable for. Michael tried to keep the parents from knowing where she was buried until he was ordered to do so by court. The list continues.

Terri's case was not a right to die case. It involved so much more. I recommend you read a short statement by Martin Katz on Terri Schiavo (The American Thinker, March 29, 2005) that explains it - it's also posted here on FR. Also, Mark Fuhrman has an excellent book called "The Silent Witness."

Hold on. Crist is clueless regarding finances. In St. Pete at his alma mater, Crist promised teachers 100K salaries. Nice work if you can get it considering teachers don't work all year.

Crist's sister is/was a school principal. I suppose she gave him this brilliant idea to help bankrupt the state.

Some teachers would be millionaires in ten years and Floridians on fixed incomes would be?

In the poor house.

I hope the voters wise up. Crist is pandering for votes WITH MY MONEY.

(we have Terri Schiavo threads steadily since 2002 and will continue to demand justice for Terri and her blood relatives.

There are judges who still need to be sitting in prison eating prison food instead of obtaining awards at banquets for killing her.) FLORIDA IS THE STARVATION STATE.

Tom Delay was interviewed by Fox News upon his departure. He talked about Terri at length. The camera showed Delay's office. Delay has a large print of Terri's portrait in his office. The portrait was done by Terri supporters from Sarasota. The original is a decent sized oil painting. Delay talked about THE CULTURE OF DEATH. When will people wake up? I guess maybe when it's personal.

Your grandfather declined life support because he was dying. Terri was denied food and water because she wasn't dying.

Sorry about your relative. There's a major difference between natural death and a forced exit. Nobody escapes natural death and we are fighting the death lobby who push euthanasia which is illegal in most states but practiced freely anyway.

The death lobby is aligned with activist judges like www.judgegeorgegreer.com and also with George Soros and the ACLU. We take the murder of innocents seriously around here whether they are public executions like Terri Schiavo's or whether someone is a victim behind closed doors.

Adolph Hitler had a T-4 program to exterminate the population that has similarities to new dogma and propaganda which is driven by profit - millions upon millions of dollars.

Modern day profiteering by making death is a big deal. It is MONEY DRIVEN.

FLORIDA IS THE STARVATION STATE.

A Seeing Machine (the blind sheik judge greer) could use one of these:

http://today.reuters.com/news/newsarticle.aspx?type=technologyNews&storyid=2006-06-10T000758Z_01_N094427_RTRUKOC_0_US-SCIENCE-SIGHT.xml&src=rss&rpc=22

But, he refused Terri admittance into his courtroom which is against the ADA. Even seeing isn't believing with the corrupt, incompetent Judge Greer.

Why this crook isn't impeached and in prison is beyond me. Well, I know why he's not but someday...

My initial comment on this thread was made because of generally being sick of listening to comments about this case. There was a time on FR that it was impossible to have any thread at all without someone trying to hijack it within the first few posts. It is very similar to all the thread hijacking taking place now because of illegal immigration. In my eyes, the thread hijacking is completely destroying FR and making the site look like it is populated by a bunch of paranoid freaks.

That said, I decided to actually look into this case for the first time. After making requests on this thread for any pointers to an intelligent debate on this topic, nobody was able to send me any. I just went and read through some of the court cases related to it.

Since I know it will only start up a flame fest, I don't know if I should post my thoughts or not. In short, I think there are a lot of people on both sides of this issue that have way too much involved in the way of agenda. Money being one of the highest on the list.

I could no longer find the Martin Katz statement here on FR. He states, among others, ". . . We, as a society . . .have not managed, for whatever reason, to permit a mother, deluded or not, to put water onto the lips of her dying child, brain dead or not. . . . We, as a people, have so shamed ourselves, that we cannot look Mary Schindler, Terri Schiavo's mother, in the eye, and give her one good reason why WE did not allow her to give water for her dying child. How we came to this shameful point in our national existence is a question that demands examination. For our sake. For Mary Schindler, and her severely impaired child, Terri Schiavo, it is too late. We did not find it in our collective hears and souls, in our actions, to have mercy on them. . . ."

The many things that greatly bother me about this include the sadistic way Terri was treated. As someone on these threads said, "There was no favor too small for Michael to deny."

That said, I decided to actually look into this case for the first time. After making requests on this thread for any pointers to an intelligent debate on this topic, nobody was able to send me any. I just went and read through some of the court cases related to it.

I suspect one of the difficulties is that many Terri supporters have found that there is so much wrong with Michael's case that it's no more possible to have a reasonable debate about whether Michael's actions were proper, than it would be to debate whether water is wet or fire is hot.

Does Michael speak and behave in the manner of a sane, honest person? I have been unable to formulate any set of facts that would be consistent with his actions being sane and honest. Perhaps you could help me out.

Is Michael honest, but perhaps with a few screws loose (it would be understandable, if he was an honest person, that the stress of the situation might drive him a little crazy)? Again, try as I might I can't figure any set of facts that is consistent with his actions being those that an honest but slightly crazy person would be expected to make.

Is Michael a murderous psychopath? Perhaps. His actions and the facts of the case fit that scenario perfectly.

Is Michael simply a weak-willed guy who's being manipulated by a murderous psychopath named George Felos? Doesn't seem quite as likely, but still fits decently well with what's known of the case. If anyone can offer any other explanations to reconcile Michael's documented statements and actions with what is known and undisputed about the case, I'd like to hear them. None of the "innocent" explanations I've heard made sense a year ago; with continued revelations, they make even less sense.

Well stated.

Thanks, though I'm hardly the first to make that observation. Actually, the exrreme efforts to prevent Terri from being given any fluids orally suggest quite strongly to me that Michael knew she would probably have been able to swallow them. After all, if she was physically incapable of taking fluids orally and fatally choked when the parents tried to give them to her, that would have been the perfect scenario for Michael (and would have been a better scenario for Terri than death by dehydration).
