Absolutley, in just my lifetime I have seen the social norm that hard work begats success morph into a government sponsored wealth redistribution system that rewards the slugs that leach off the backs of others.

Damn right I would support secession of my state of Texas if this trend socialism continues.

Secession was made illegal by Abraham Lincoln—a great man but also the John Roberts of his day as far as empowering and enlarging the federal government is concerned.

...now rebellion against tyranny? THAT is sanctioned by the Founders and they (from Heaven) are probably wondering why we are taking so long.

Seems so.

We already have a Constitution written. Repeal the tax amendment and you have the makings “in order to form (an even more) perfect union...”

My only worry would be the secession would create 100 different “boss hog banana republics” instead of a pre-1913 free America.

Abel Usher was an old-school Virginia aristocrat. He hated Jacksonian egalitarian Democrats as much as outsiders telling the South how to handle its “peculiar institution”.

Lol... In case you hadn’t figured it out... That tactic holds ZERO legitimacy any longer in the minds of the folks who want to be free of the oppressive tyranny this federal government has become.

im not saying that secession is inevitable... God knows that men today are weak, lazy and consumed by cowardice or paralyzed by their perceived “duty” to their family, friends, employment.

BUT...

Good men know this is just the latest in a long series of abuses by the federal government. Good men KNOW that what the federal government has become is not something that should be tolerated or allowed continued existence. Its plainly obvious to ALL good men and women that what we have is not recognizable as freedom.

But up to and including now, good men and women do NOTHING but make excuses for their inaction. They hide behind their daily responsibilities while their freedom evaporates. They rationalize, they delude themselves, they cower...

What is it going to take to regain our freedom? Maybe bricks through windows? Maybe unchecked violence? Dirt and blood?

Or maybe a second of clarity and courage to declare our independence from the agents of entropy. We are bound to this tragedy and those who enable it ONLY by our own will. We CAN choose to say ENOUGH and dissolve the bonds that tie us to their decay. But that will only happen when good men and women realize that there is no other alternative. When their loyalty to something that no longer exists is replaced by a loyalty and duty to freedom for themselves and those who will fight along side them.

IF/When the good men and women finally decide that independence (secession) is their only legitimate hope to be free and if i still walk this earth, I will be there with them.

So, try just once in all that we do? It took Edison 10,000 tries just to produce a working light bulb. How many tries is Liberty worth?

Besides, this isn't 1860. Many differences exist between 1860 and 2012.

Just like Obama is making private wealth illegal ? Not only am I stuck here without Constitutional governance - I cannot enjoy the fruits of my own labor. Talk about slavery.

I do too, kevao, one nephew who is just made of pure adorable and another one is on the way.

I don’t have any idea how to help them outside of advising my brother to leave the country while we still have planes in the sky with fuel in them.

From my eyes, now doesn’t seem like the best time for young folks to be raising a family. It looks like I won’t be making one, at least for now.

I think we can in several States. War? That depends on them.

Socialist idealism has been flooding into the open hatches -- our ship is grossly leaning to the starboard side. This ship has lost buoyancy and is taking on water. It is sinking. Do we man the lifeboats and save ourselves? Do we go down with the ship?

The alternative, an inexorable, tortuous, extended march toward Marxism (slavery) is much worse than ANY hot war.

Arizona certainly has a right to secede after this week’s ruling. Justice Scalia basically said as much in his scathing dissent. Sign me up for secession.

The real lesson of the Civil War seems to be lost on everyone. The real lesson to learn from the Civil War is that 11 states completed disassociated from the Federal Govt. and created a new central govt. in 4 weeks, from scratch. In the age of the telegraph too while being invaded. FedGov™ power is paper thin.

Great point. We really don’t need the Feds at all. We’ll do just fine without them. Roe v. Wade, Lawrence v. Texas, not the rulings this week. I’m done with the Feds. I want out. Now.

Secession, in this day and age, would be brain-dead stupid.

Divide and conquer - it is EXACTLY what the communists want us to do. It is far easier to pick-off the individual states than doing so in whole U.S.
