National Day of Mourning, 1/20/05
January 20th, 2005 will be a National Day of Mourning for American Democracy. If George W. Bush is sworn in on that day for a second Presidential term, it will represent a Grave Blow to the core Values of our Democracy. It will be a day of great sadness for at least half the nation. In observance of this day,
Wear traditional symbols of mourningblack clothes, black armbands, black ribbons on the lapel. If you are able, fly an American flag at half staff. Take funeral leave, bereavement leave or sick leave from work on January 20th. If challenged to name your ailment, call it Democracy Flu. If you take funeral or bereavement leave, you may say that your Uncle Sam has died. Use the day to participate in collective Acts of Mourning with others. March in funerary Processions. Use Coffins and Shrouds to symbolize the sad nature of our demonstration. Conduct mock interments of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights to symbolize the loss we have endured. Build and burn a funeral pyre for an effigy of Uncle Sam. Be sure to acknowledge and to Mourn the brave SoulsMarines, Soldiers, Sailors and Airmenwho, under the wrongheaded Policies and incompetent Management of this Administration, have given up their lives in honorable service to their Country. If you have occasion to participate in a Procession or Demonstration, engage in traditional symbolic acts of Mourning. Practice coordinated Wailing and Ululation. Sing Funeral hymns and offer mourning chants and Prayers. Wear over-garments of sack-cloth. Mark your face with ashes. Rend and tear your garments. Scatter ashes along the path of the procession. The purpose of these acts shall be to express our Deep Sadness over the results of the Election and the Consequences we believe a second Bush term will have for the Safety and Welfare of the Nation. When enough of us participate, we can deflect attention from the Coronation in Washington. When we make our show of Grief without anger, violence or the appearance of Riot, we will lead our fellow citizens to understand the Gravity of the Situation we face.
Please join us in mourning on January 20th, and invite others to join you.
Boohoo baby.
So he won the election - but getting sworn in is a grave blow to our Democracy?
This guy's been huffing a bit too much glue since November 2nd.
A tribute to our Armed Forces:

Lead us to understand? How about lead us to doubled over, side stitching laughter?
Bunch of Drama Queens!
Oh No! America will be brought to its knees if forced to endure an entire day without the services of its art historians, instructors of women's studies, street mimes, yoga instructors, ceramicists, Hollywood actors, pundits, and environmental activists.
Unbelievable
These people really believe that some vote fraud or recount miracle is going to occur, thus causing Kerry to be sworn in as the President. Delusional and scary thinking is alive and well at the DU.
But on the up-side, they'll be posting more at DU, so the DUmmie FUnnies would have more audition materials.
This IS their strong suit!
Ping PJ. Thought you might be interested. Although I'm sure you are all-knowing of DU threads.
LOLOL! Don't forget the teachers, librarians and DMV clerks.
That is funny!! I hope they don't all complain when they get written up!
What's really, really funny about this is that I can't even believe this many DU'ers have jobs to begin with. How would we know the clerk at Tower Records is wearing black out of protest and not just because 95% of their wardrobe is black?
That's womyn's studies! Don't forget ther herstory teachers!
These people have obviously never experienced real grief.
They need help.
If? Does this mean the DUmmies have some plans to prevent the inauguration?
These people need a mental health intervention. They're as bad as the Floridians currently undergoing PEST therapy, bemoaning the fact that Bush won and that they are outnumbered. Gee, and I thought democracy was a good thing (at least by their definition - will someone please explain the concept of a representative republic to these idiots?).
