(Vanity) Folding@Home - Team (we're still searching for a name), is now at #777 and still climbing.

Welcome to the folding at home thread. The previous thread has gotten too large, so we move on to yet another.

While this folding@home team is not officially sanctioned by Free Republic, it's members, or it's founders, it is comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing, who have banded together, to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via Distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimers, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).

Currently, the team is in 777th place, having moved up from 1200th place, a week earlier, and is now in the top 100 teams, for daily contributions.

This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, links are provided to the program, or it is easily googled by "folding@home".

Why not just use Freepers or Freeper Folders, the SETI team uses it: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/team_display.php?teamid=30594

How about "Fine Freeping Folders" for a more alliterative approach.

Still delusional. Based on current trends, it's more like a few years.... not weeks.

Hey now - they popped out a whopping 10,000 points last week. Versus good ol' 36120's 85,000. Why they'll catch up to us...well, never. LOL.

I owe you a beer. That's the first time I've seen "alliterative" used in a sentence in at leas 5 yrs!

Nice. Do we prefer that one over something more presidential? Casual or formal, I guess...

Yeah, but don't ask him to spell it... or you'll owe him a six pack

I'm just throwin' 'em out there...this is most folks favorite pic of RR. If you want something more formal, I can do that, too.

I've been so disappointed with the reception our project has received that I just logged on for the first time today(I'm usually on as soon as I wake up and stay on all dang day). I don't care what we call ourselves, but I think we should not choose a trite name but it should be identifiable to those of us who are regulars around here.
Remember, we're just happy to be doing good works.

I hear ya.. I was tempted not to get back on today, but I was drawn back, and some very supportive e-mails encouraged me. We might not have official sanction, but the team members keep rolling in, 5 more signed up by my count, so while we're down, we're not out, and will come out bigger and better than ever. The name, I agree, shouldn't be taken lightly, but that's the easiest problem to overcome.
