This morning, I read on the Drudge Report that Roger Waters (formerly of Pink Floyd) is sounding off about our upcoming elections as a part of his current tour...
...I was a Pink Floyd fan in my youth, and as such, I feel compelled to write an open letter to Mr. Waters.
I will readily admit that the foregoing letter at times commits the logical fallacy of making ad hominem statements. So be it. Let's just say that, since I was a fan of Pink Floyd as a teenager, that I have temporarily regressed for the purposes of this letter, which reads...

My wife actually got to play Jimmy Page's doubleneck---THE doubleneck, with Page standing right beside her. My first question to her:
"Did you play Stairway?"
Agreed. "The Final Cut" is excruciating, particularly having to endure Roger's vocals which sound as if someone has punched him in the stomach before each song.
If you look at the album cover, you'll see that it really is a Roger Water's solo album as he claims it's "performed by the Pink Floyd". Waters is making it clear that the others are just hired help.
And Richard Wright wasn't even on TFC, as he was fired during The Wall. Glad Gilmour brought him back.
That means that Nick Mason is the ONLY member of "The Pink Floyd" to have been in it from beginning to end.
She was not my wife at the time.
She won a radio prize of a Les Paul signed by Page. When he found out that the winner of the contest was not only a guitar player but a woman guitar player, it went from a perfunctory event to a real surprise, where he was smiling and beaming, saying he wanted to see her play the doublneck, etc. She tells me the roadies were all blown away, saying that he was virtually never nice to anyone. There's more to it, but that's the gist.
No one ever believes her, but then she produces the photos and the video MTV took of the event :-)

Anyway, I ended up blaming myself in the end for being ignorant. After all, who could be upset at going to a strip club and seeing naked women inside?
Blame yourself for this flawed analogy instead. If you go to a strip club you expect to see naked women. If you go to a concert you ought to rightfully expect to hear music. Neither would normally be platforms for political rallies.
I love Pink Floyd, FWIW. My understanding is that Roger Waters parted company with Pink Floyd because he is such an a-hole. I know there was a dispute as to who had the legal right to keep the Pink Floyd name but AFAIC Floyd ain't Floyd without David Gilmour's guitar. I am curious (haven't been to a concert in 20 years) was the concert you saw billed as "Pink Floyd?"
Not marketed by The Tweeter Center as Pink Floyd at all...but that is the way my friends marketed it to me, and, I would say, rightfully so (in a sense)
It was nearly all Pink Floyd music..so that was great.
I'm sure the music was great. Too bad about the demagoguing. I'm not too likely to go to a concert anyway but knowing this it would be a no-sale for me on Waters. Hypothetically speaking; I'll hold out for Wright, Mason and Gilmour. Division Bell and A Momentary Lapse of Reason are still favorites of mine. My first Floyd album was Meddle in about '72. I used it for spooky music on Halloween. It's still great.
I will qualify: I would NOT go to see this man again, ever. I made my mind up on that while I sat there, steaming mad.
I was trapped there, and made the best of it, which is what I usually do. But I would not recommend the show, and would never go again myself!
I don't blame you. No sense giving him any more money. But I don't think you need to blame yourself for not knowing ahead of time that he would do this. Your expectations were reasonable his actions were not. Live and learn, bro.
