How the Jihadis vandalized this ancient land and wiped out Christianity as well as the ancient culture of Egypt – leaving only the massive Pyramids and the Sphinx as mute witness to the glory of pre-Islamic Egypt.

The heritage and legacy of the Copts and their ancestors the ancient Egyptians continue to be manifested all over the world in every day life in the use of the Gregorian calendar, a descendant of the ancient Egyptian solar calendar. The Coptic name of ancient Egypt " Chimie" has lent itself to the modern Chemistry. Ancient Egypt continues to provide inspiration for cotemporary mystics and followers of new age beliefs. Modern artists continue to be inspired by ancient Egypt. In recent years, architects have taken renewed interest in Egypt and the forms of its stylishly pyramid, continue to be applied to many public and commercial buildings.

The four centuries of ceaseless warfare between the Byzantine (Eastern-Roman) Empire and the Sassanid Persian Empire in the 6th and 7th centuries had weakened both empires.

It was at this unfortunate juncture that the Muslim Arabs pounced on both empires in fourth decade of the 7th century (641 C.E.). After their conquest of the Byzantine provinces of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine (today’s Israel), they invaded Egypt in December 641 C.E.

Scholars have differed in views on how the ancient library of Alexandria was destroyed. However, recent research by Luciano Canfora concluded that the Arab general Amr at the orders of the Arab Caliph Umar did the heinous deed of destruction of the library.

The story of the Arabs destruction of the library indicates that it took them six months to burn the books in about one thousand public baths in Alexandria.

This was a shameful act on part of the unlettered Arabs, whose Islamic mentality told them that no other book need now exist, as the Quran contained all that they needed! This was the justification of the barefooted and lizard-eating Arab Muslims for burning down all libraries, not just in Egypt but also in Syria (Damascus), Persia (where they burned the royal Zoroastrian library at Ctesiphon), Spain, India (where they burned the Buddhist university of Nalanda). The burning of libraries was one of the most heinous of the many Muslim crimes against humanity.

Yeah. The Copts are the descendants of the Ancient Egyptians. Their Christian Church ritule is in a Coptic, a form of later Ancient Egyptian. Using it and the Rosettta Stone, linguistis and Egyptiologists were able to decipher hieroglphs. Ancient Egyptian was a separate and distinct language from Arabic and although they are related, the relationship is very distant - like between English and Tocharian - an ancient extinct language of Central Asia.

So the Copts are the real Egyptians and the Islamic Egyptians are descendents of Arabs who speak Arabic or Arabicized Ancient Egyptians.

“whose Islamic mentality told them that no other book need now exist, as the Quran contained all that they needed! “

They still believe this. Try to find a history book on pre-Islamic Arabia. They are few and far between. Before Islam, Arabia had civilizations and cultures and even several different scripts - all now extinct.

Islam is a disease of the mind and soul not a religion.

The Rosetta Stone
http://www.ancientegypt.co.uk/writing/rosetta.html

How did Champollion decipher hieroglyphs?

Champollion could read both Greek and coptic.

He was able to figure out what the seven demotic signs in coptic were. By looking at how these signs were used in coptic he was able to work out what they stood for. Then he began tracing these demotic signs back to hieroglyphic signs.

By working out what some hieroglyphs stood for, he could make educated guesses about what the other hieroglyphs stood for.

The Story of the Rosetta Stone, “Finding a Lost Language”
from “Ancient Peoples: A Hypertext View”
draft by Richard A. Strachan and Kathleen A. Roetzel (1997)
http://www.mnsu.edu/emuseum/prehistory/egypt/hieroglyphics/rosettastone.html

The first to make any sense of the Demotic script on the Rosetta Stone was a French scholar named Silvestre deSacy. deSacy was an important and skilled French linguist. He identified the symbols which comprised the word ‘Ptolemy’ and ‘Alexander’ thus, establishing a relationship between the symbols and sounds. Johann Akerblad who history records as a Swedish diplomat, looked at the Rosetta Stone with an additional knowledge of Coptic. Coptic was the language used by the Coptic church of Egypt, an early Christian group who preserved the language which was used as early as the 4th century. Coptic was written with the Greek alphabet but utilizes seven additional symbols from the Demotic script. Akerblad’s knowledge of Coptic allowed him to identify the words for ‘love,’ ‘temple’ and ‘Greek’ thus, making it clear that the Demotic script was not only a phonetic script but it was also translatable.

Few liberals that I have met have any understanding of history generally.

They are stunned to find out that the early Christian church also existed in Egypt. Or that the arab muslims wiped out that culture.

Same for other areas like Lebanon, Armenia, Turkey...

sad.

Most liberals equate Mohammad with Buddha, Moses, and Christ, Zoroaster.

They fail to realize that those individuals were theological leaders while Mohammad was merely a lying, murdering desert bandit, slaver and pedophile. The Quran is merely a compilation of his rambling lies and deceptions and convenient contradictions. They alos fail to understand the expanding nature of Islam and the implications for the rest of the world.

You are correct - they are historical fools. Better they should stick to speeches about limiting toilette paper - that’s about their speed intellectually.
