Can you ping the usual suspects?
Thanks

Government’s job is to protect us from external threats, provide a system of mediation to settle disputes, and provide a system to restrain those of us who would do harm to others in our society. The government has precious few other responsibilities.
Huckabee doesn’t get that.

I don’t think he will be more expensive than the others. Don’t be fooled by his populist rhetoric, he is proposing some very conservative solutions to the problems he talks about.

I didn’t say I wasn’t voting for him but I’m not esp. impressed with what any of them propose. I’m more interested in what they have done or have not done.

Government’s job is to protect us from external threats, provide a system of mediation to settle disputes, and provide a system to restrain those of us who would do harm to others in our society. The government has precious few other responsibilities. Per federal government. What states do is another thing, constitutionally. Add the need for national infrastructure, supporting the American population in trade and economics (as did the origial Presidents) and providing help to those in need when no other options are available (see Katrina) and I think he pretty much does.
He's clearly more of a constitutionalist than Mitt Romney, who promised automotive companies corporate welfare from the federal government (amidst whatever other pandering -- no telling what he'll do as President). And Huckabee is more of a consitutionalist than John McCain.
See tag line.

Thank you for the ping. It's an excellent video that reminds me of what was recently opinioned on Townhall:
Townhall Blog 1/24/08 Michael Medved
As for Mike Huckabee, hes always great in this setting always. When historians write the story of this campaign, unblended by partisan rancor, they will mark down the Arkansas governor as the most effective performer of either party in the whole history of television debates unfailingly likeable, folksy, warm, eloquent and self-assured . The guy is such a natural in the debate format that he managed to overcome a total lack of name recognition and a broke campaign treasury to become a top tier candidate on the strength of his TV performances alone.
