Posted on 06/19/2008 6:33:29 PM PDT by the anti-liberal
Last night, John McCain met with a carefully screened group of Chicago-area Latino voters. The town hall was closed to the media. Several readers e-mailed an eyewitness account of the event. Heres an excerpt:
I was one of the 150 people at the Drake Hotel in Downtown Chicago Wednesday night who came to hear John MC Cain speak to Illinois Hispanics.
I had e-mail in my request to attend after seeing an article in the news paper announcing this event.
This is what i received .

..Personally as an Original Minuteman who attended the Historic Minuteman Border Watch in 2005 on the Arizona/ Mexico border and returni[n]g 2 more times for a tour of duty along our southern Border, I was especially looking forward to what John Mc Cain would say about illegal immigration.
This was a NO MEDIA ALLOWED EVENT! That is why I am reporting back to you, all of you folks who have fought so hard with your phone calls to Washington D.C. last summer, shutting down the Washington DC switch board and defeating the AMNESTY BILL. I am reporting back to you those of you who work tirelessly in your local cities and towns trying to get some public elected official to care and enforce the rule of law.
I was told by my friend and fellow Hispanic Marianne Davies who is on the board of You Dont Speak for Me that John Mc Cain has been going across the country having PRIVATE meetings with Hispanics.
Although the [invitation] said we would be able to ask questions, that question time with John McCain never happened. That was ok with me, I never had the intention of asking a question, I knew exactly the kind of open borders crowd I was with.
John McCains favorite words of the evening were Comprehensive Immigration Reform. But he started out first of all saying if he is gonna win the Presidential election he will need the support of the Latino community.
He said My state has been enriched by the Hispanic culture in Arizona.
Then John McCain asked a question Did you know this? I bet some of you did not know that Spanish was spoken in Arizona before English Loud cheers from the audience. (Ok John McCain What is your AZTLAN POINT?)
Then he said I want to have some straight talk about our relationship with Mexico, our closest neighbor and dearest friend He talked about the Mexican President fighting the drug cartels.
Then John McCain aid the exact thing I came to hear, he said I was proud to work for Comprehensive Immigration Reform and If I am elected President I assure you that in 2009 I will ask Congress to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform. (The crowd goes wild) It is a Federal Responsibility he said and continued we also need a temporary guest worker program
He then told a story about a day laborer who got picked up this morning, worked all day and then never got paid We have no Federal Policy, we cannot allow this to happen, he said, He repeated I assure you that I will work for Comprehensive Immigration Reform.
John McCain talked about a debate he was in about enforcing the law and he says that the other side had a lot of Rhetoric you know what I am talking about! he said
Yeah, we know what hes talking about. All too well.
Related: Tipster Edgar M. sends an English translation of an article from Diario Libre touting McCains promise to renew his shamnesty push for the undocumented:
New York - The Republican candidate for the White House, Senator John McCain, promised that if he wins, a day after he is sworn in as a new president of the United States, he will pressure Congress to enact a law immediately in favor of immigration reform.
The candidate that appears today eight points behind his Democrat rival Barack Obama, did the pronouncement in an interview that he granted to the Hispanic newspaper La Opinion in Los Angeles
McCain said that it is completely false that [he] has abandoned his original commitment to fight for reform for the more than 12 million undocumented immigrants that reside in the United States and that includes the failed proposal of President Bush, to secure the borders first.
This reform will be a priority in my administration because it is a convincing federal responsibility, added the contender of the Republican Party. We will undertake immigration reform and on the day after my inauguration, I will ask Congress to reconsider it, although I believe that first we have to secure our borders, set in motion a plan for guest workers that works and to focus on the issue of the undocumented in a humane and compassionate way.
Related: Ed Morrisseys liveblogging McCains townhall in St. Paul, Minn. Looks like immigration received only the most superficial treatment.
[In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this whole thing was his idea]
In other words, he was lying through his teeth to win the GOP nomination.
John McCain will never get my vote.
A Big thank you to Michelle! I had e-mailed her the article at the request of Andy’s mom!
Thanks MOM!!! You done good! Team work!!
I really can’t say that I’m at all comfortable with this. I’m not even talking about what is reported here to have gone on in these meetings. What bothers me a great deal is that McCain, who is running to be President of ALL the people of this nation, thinks that it is OK to have secret meetings with select groups....to say what?....to promise what?.....to make what kind of deals? Citizens and voters who are not from these groups are kept in the dark as to what this candidate is doing....and he wants our votes.
This does not bode well at all.
More proof that he’s a worthless P.O.S.
If he makes Mitt his running mate, I may re-consider.
But, like the Furniture Guy says on TV..
“I doubt it!”
You gotta read this. PING away to bring others.
"Get up, damn you! I'm going to ride you to victory!"
Good point - which makes me wonder if O isn't doing something similar - either with blacks, Muslims, or what have you...
Not good, all around.
Since January, more than 1,300 people have been killed in execution-style hits or gunned down in fire fights, which often rage for hours in broad daylight and turn residential neighbourhoods into war zones. If the trend continues, 2008 will top last year's toll of 2,500 deaths in drug-related killings. You don't hear so much about Americans at the Border. Too bad.
More Americans killed by illegal aliens than Iraq war, study says Think about it. A man or woman killed in Iraq or Iran in the line of duty is a hero. But what is an American killed at home by an illegal alien because the government has failed in its sworn duty to guard the borders. This is a pact between the sovereign and the person has paid taxes and loyalty. The answer is to that question is pretty awful. And it bodes ill for the republic.
But is it true?
When you start digging into the numbers the only ones that can be sourced with the feds are the number of American murdered in 2005: 16692
I have seen federal numbers for illegals held in jail ranging from 19.3% to 27% of the federal prison population.
Here's a sampling of USA cities wanted for murder. What you'll see is that in big USA cities like LA or NYC most of the murderers are Hispanic. Unknown are the % of illegals. In smaller cities the FBI will post the nationalities of the murderers. About 25% of the most wanted are illegals wanted for murder. This number agrees with the percentage of illegals incarcerated in federal prisons. +-25%
Pictures of top 10 most wanted in LA. Up until recent stories about crime in LA posted by the LA Times--the pictures included the nationality of the murderers. They were all foreign nationals and mostly Mexican.
Wanted for Murder in New York City.
Chicago wanted for Murder
Philadelphia wanted for murder
San Francisco wanted for Murder
New Orleans wanted for Murder
Pictures of suspects wanted for murder in Washington DC
FBI USA 10 most wanted. (two of 10 are Mexican nationals) Around 40% of the FBI's wanted for murder are Mexican Nationals
There are currently no exact numbers on the number of Americans killed by illegals. Part of the reason is that the government deliberately obscures the number. I talked on the phone with the head of statistics for the US Bureau of Prisons. He said his office wasn't allowed to publish the number of illegal alien murderers. Rather they were forced to put legal and non legal residents in the same category. He said further that most of illegals in the federal prisons were in for drug related charges. Most of the illegals in jail for murder were in the state prisons. I talked to ICE. They put out detailed numbers on illegal child molestors. However, they put out nothing on illegal murderers.
Part of the reason for the silence on the matter is that there is evidence to suggest that most Americans--but by no means all -- being killed by illegals are black--as is the suggestion in this LA Times Article. Also this article from the LA Times. And here. This makes intuitive sense. We see stories regularly of drug gang killings in Mexico but we don't see those same stories in the USA. The reason we don't see those stories is not because its not happening. Rather we don't see the stories about illegals killing blacks because that kind of story is terribly politically incorrect. The populations being displaced in downtown sanctuary cities especially are American blacks. That means that their criminal elements would be pushed aside by Mexican gangs as well. That's also the story that the wanted for murder posters in all the major cities seems to suggest.
Why isn't there an outcry in the black community? Beats me.
Nevertheless, the pattern of non reporting is starting to break. Discovery Channel has a series called Gangland that mentions ethnic cleasing of blacks by Mexican gangs
Reported Foreign Nationals on Death Row in the U.S.
To look at other USA cities go here http://stlouis.fbi.gov/ and replace stlouis with the city you want.
All that said the true number of criminal aliens is far higher than is revealed by criminal aliens in prisons. Most are simply waived through the courts.DHS Secretary Chertoff, has been quoted as warning that two million people in this country illegally have committed serious crimes. If you check the links you'll notice that its McCain who cites Chertoff. See also here and here Here is more info from Judicial Watch.
However the number of illegals on death row is far lower. Sadly, so many small towns and villages across America have sent their warriors off to war half way across the world only to see communities fill up with illegal aliens.
He’s making a lot of attractive promises but doing nothing to prove his intent.
Border wall Pt. II
That'd be funny if it weren't so sad!
This man is a candidate for the highest office in the land. He wants me to vote for him...but he won’t tell me what he’s going to do....but he’ll tell an illegal.
I'm not sure what value his talk on the WOT is if he refuses to secure our borders from invasion.
Obama is going to bring class antagonism (Marxism) and race antagonism (rasism) to the White House - but McCain doesn't seem to bringing much himself - take 'cap and trade.'
All I can see him bringing as a positive is a push for domestic oil - though his support for the 'Climate Change' hoax may render that moot, not mention it may only be out-the-side-of-his-mouth pandering.
Color me pissed at the MSM for choosing these candidates!
Of course, the meetings are secret so he can pomise different things to different competing groups. He can promise amnesty to illegal aliens at one meeting and closing the borders and expelling the illegals at another meeting. And because the meetings are secret, McCain thinks no one will realize how crooked he is.
Or we can get the SCOTUS to Sue OPEC (ha!).
I’ll tell you the same thing I told someone on another thread.
You don’t have to worry about McCain being in the White House. B. Hussein has refused public campaign financing and they say he will raise $500 million to McCain’s $85 million from Public Financing. So.....forget it; IT’S OVER. Can you say: “President Hussein Obama”?
anyone that’s surprised,
hasn’t been paying attention to mcdole.
Personally, I worry about ANY of them being in the WH (remember, Hillary! only suspended her campaign).
Read it, not surprised but then it doesn’t take much to get pi$$ed at him. We’re facing a real dilema here. Do we want an (R) that is so deceitful or a (D) that is just as bad but we know that.
My mind has been made up some time ago and it ain’t gonna change. The (R) party has lost its’ way. McSane is a mental case and will give up this country for his own self. Pfffft.
I guess the question becomes: how much pain are we willing to suffer and; short term pain or longterm pain?
Well I live in Michigan where our unemployment rate is closer to 9% than to 8% so pain is nothing new to me. I didn’t see the GOP learning to walk during the years they were in power. The last time they stood up and looked for a fight was under Clinton.
Personally though, I haven't made up my mind who to vote FOR, I only know who I don't want to vote for - and I don't WANT to vote for any of 'em.
You might be right. That cancerous bulge on his left cheek is the size of half a golf ball now, and getting bigger by the week.
Did you read my entire post? It has nothing to do with McCain’s health.
Ref. your Post #25:
You could very well be right. Not only has the GOP gotten “fat and lazy” they’ve gotten corrupt and smug. I will go to bed on election night, after they declare Obama the President-Elect, and get a good night’s sleep, knowing that he will screw this nation into ruination in 4 years and know that we got what we deserved.
I suspect it was just an addendum to his reply to you. Happens often around here...
McCain is not perfect but he sure beats the alternative. I still say McCain has the edge in November. I think we have Florida for sure and Ohio looks good too if he picks Rob Portman for VP. And I just saw a poll were 80% of evangelicals support McCain vs. Obama. Evangelicals practically put President Bush in the White House in 2004.
I think that in November we will be hearing President-Elect McCain. Don’t give up hope yet.
It sure says something about how bad things are this election season when you can read about something like this closed, no-media, illegal-immigration-pandering, meeting and still say the perp is better than the opposition.
Where do we go?...what do we do?...Is anyone listening?
No matter who wins, we end up with a Democrat in the White House and a Democrat Congress - and you say “Don’t give up hope...”
This is just confirmation of what we already knew. Sometimes a reminder is helpful.
When he says 'enforcement first,' remind him that he's tried this before - there's a difference between 'immigration reform' and 'comprehensive immigration reform.' The former is needed (though it wouldn't be if our current laws were actually enforced, but you know how it goes), the later is shamnesty.
Being as many people don't click on links, here is a link to your Post Yesterday about this here at FR.
Also, there is an article by AP (who FR is boycotting) which quotes you.
AP charges by the word if we use their words here, maybe you can charge them for using yours?
Here is what they said:
"He's having his private meetings to rally Hispanics and to tell them what they want to hear," she said. "I'm outraged that he would reach out to me as a Hispanic but not as a conservative."I don't think it is out of line to post your words here from an AP article, even if they paid you for them
McCain really hasn’t flipped on this issue.
In order to get the vote, he was limited in stating that our rejection of Senate Bill 2611 was due to our wanting the border secured first. He said that he heard us loud and clear. Border Security first.
What McCain has, or is pretending to have, is selective hearing. Apparently he never heard us say border security first and NO AMNESTY. I’m learning that much of what is important is what is NOT said. Assuming nothing. Read between the lines. These folks must have advisors that lay awake nights coming up with ways to fool anyone not paying close attention.
In fact, if statements by the other R candidates are reviewed, much of the same regarding this issue can be found, and frankly, we’d probably be in the same boat on this issue with any of them. ONLY Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo were SPECIFIC about attrition through enforcement and NO amnesty of any kind in conjunction with an effectively secured border.
Which is precisely why the MSM ignored them (and Fred) - they were scared!
The MSM, imo, is exercising too much influence in deciding this election. They are the only reason we're stuck with such awful candidates.
As an ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION FREEREPUBLIC PING PERSON I have been asked to come on .......
