Shades of Dukakis, Obama up 15 THE PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW BY: Salena Zito
In May of 1988 after all of the Democratic primaries ended presumptive nominee Michael Dukakis enjoyed a 54 to 38 percent lead over then Ronald Reagan wing man George H.W. Bush.
H.W. went on to win in that November handily
This evening a new Newsweek poll shows Obama having a giant lead, from 51 percent to 36 percent, over McCain among registered voters across the country.
Obama got his bounce, Dukakis style.

thanks for the crack up
I know a lot of liberals and I don’t know of any one of them who says they support Obama. It could be because they are all middle-age and Obama’s base is predominantly the under 30 crowd.
george herbert walker bush was more a
wing nut
than a wing man of ronald reagan.
there’s no similarity between the two.
Food for thought.
The “news” outlets are setting the stage for November. If the Kollege Kiddie Krusaders from Obamanation don’t get their big “historical” win, they’ll be able to point to this garbage and whine about being “robbed” and their “historical” election being “stolen.”
Key thing from that poll was the 19-point gap in party ID. Now either the GOP is being crushed in party ID, in which case the Republicans are in trouble on all levels, or else it’s a very skewed sample. I’m guessing the latter.
When are you people going to admit the experiment is over ? McCain versus Obama ? Talk about a nightmare !
I find it so funny that people take all these liberal polls as if they are Gospel. I am not aware of a Conservative poll? Fox News is done by a couple democrats, one of the worst!!
NEWSWEEK polls are the least credible of all the polls. They just plain make stuff up.
The thing that is not so funny is that these phony polls quite often become reality.
Newsweek is such a joke!!!!
Another Newsweak poll. They are famous for their samples consisting of 65% Democrat 20% Republican 15% confused.
Then they declare this an accurate sample.
They’ve been doing this rubbish for so long, I’m surprised we don’t all just collectively laugh.
I’ll be following Rasmussen. They are diligent and professional.
This could be a bounce caused by Obama’s recent and first official national Ad. It was very much a typical Rat lie, but very powerful and positive and I’m sure the Democrat base and the moderates went starry-eyed over it.
GOP Party ID has declined dramaticaly since 2004. This poll is probably worthless this far out, but it may foreshadow a Democratic rout come November.
And the general public is clueless. They believe every bit of it and then some. Most of them see NEWSWEEK as Gospel.
McCain is doing O.K. in this Newsweek poll for just 20% of Republican sample. Then again, McCain is really a Democrat.

Oh, but that has been squarely blamed on Bush and the Oil Companies. Haven’t you heard? The Democrats will lower prices and most of the public can hardly wait till they get into office and go after the evil Oil Company executives.
And they will take all the money back that the filthy dirty rich took from them, because Bush will no longer be there to protect them.
9b. As of TODAY do you LEAN more toward the Republican Party or the Democratic Party?
Total RVs (Registered Voters)
22 23 Republican
36 38 Democrat
37 35 Independent
3 2 No party/Not interested in politics (VOL.)
* * Other party (VOL.)
2 2 Don't know
100 100
35 36 Total Republican/Lean Republican
53 55 Total Democrat/Lean Democrat

and here's the numbers

SAMPLE SIZE/MARGIN OF ERROR FOR REGISTERED VOTERS SUBGROUPS:
896 Registered voters (plus or minus 4)
231 Republicans (plus or minus 8)
324 Democrats (plus or minus 6)
307 Independents (plus or minus 7)
741 White (plus or minus 4)
139 Non-White (plus or minus 9)
423 Men (plus or minus 6)
473 Women (plus or minus 5)
167 18-39 (plus or minus 8)
336 40-59 (plus or minus 6)
366 60+ (plus or minus 6)
204 Hillary Clinton supporters (plus or minus 8)
As usual, the only poll that is going to count is the one in November and the MSM will try and manipulate people's minds with all kinds of false flags until that date to try and influence things towards their idol, Obama.
But they will be disappointed.
u think wisely
If Newsreek called you, would you answer their poll? I wouldn’t. I suspect Newsreek polls are inherently biased.
Newsweek says he’s up 15 points, but gallop says its 2. ...................................
they just add those together and call it a even 17 :)
