A vicious rightwing magazine published a cover featuring militant Muslim Barack Obama and his AK-47 toting wife fisting bumping as an American flag burns in the fireplace. OOPS! It wasn't an EVIL rightwing magazine that had this cover but the very LIBERAL New Yorker magazine. But don't worry. The left will somehow manage to blame this on those wascally Republicans. Meanwhile over in KOmmieland, KOmmie heads are exploding as you can see in this THREAD titled, "The New Yorker Obama cover: OMFG, WTF?" So let us now watch the KOmmies explode in bloody Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, wondering why the New Yorker did not include a cigarette in Obama's lips, is in the [barackets]:
Anybody got any opinion on this new New Yorker cover?
[Hilarious! But not as FUnnie as your reaction to it.]
I got one: OMFG! I'm sure it's some kind of joke right? There's no other ulterior motive to publish cartoons like this right? They got the new McCain Manchurian Candidate cover lined up for next week right?
[John McCain is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life. ]
This is disgusting. Might be worth cancelling a subscription or two.
[Or zero since you read the New Yorker FREE on the web like the rest of us.]
This is an encouragement of every dark, racist, ignorant, and violent impulse that Obama's candidacy has inspired in the hearts of a presumably small number of Americans. Blitt and the New Yorker better pray every day that no act of violence is directed at Obama in this campaign. If it is, they will be culpable.
[Then you WON'T be blaming evil rightwingers with blood on their fingers?]
Since this is coming from a "liberal" publication, what this does is provide an opening for the right wing to discuss these same memes again and again, thereby amplifying them and distracting the media from the real issues of this campaign, not to mention distracting us from the deep problems with John McCain.
[Is it okay if we just laugh about it?]
I know that the New Yorker targets its image at a certain kind of smugly self-congratulatory clique within the "chattering classes," and the editors probably think that for this reason, it can't possibly do any harm, but this is ridiculous. Most people perusing the newsstand won't have enough time to digest the irony; it will effectively reinforce the subconscious connections that right-wing whisper campaigns have been trying to promulgate for months.
[Most people NEVER even see the New Yorker but your whining is now making them curious.]
the Goopers and Freepers will use this diary and others like it, and the responses in the thread, to yack on and on about how the lefty blog world overreacts to stuff like this. As if they wouldn't go five times as overboard if it was caricature of their candidate.
[Hee! Hee!]
I have no doubt that we will see the GOP at its lowest in this campaign.
[Even though it hasn't happened and this cover appeared on the cover of a LIBERAL magazine.]
PLEASE let some right wing asshole bring up this cover..PLEASE PLEASE. Y'all will want to see my Republitard education on Pay-Per-View. LET those RWF (right wing f*ckers) feel 'brave' and bring up some some Obama myths.
[Naw! We'll just laugh watching YOU bring up the Obama New Yorker cover.]
This cover is an absolute DISASTER for Obama, as some type away it isn't a big deal. Mercy...
[And the FUnniest thing is that the cover appeared on a LIBERAL magazine.]
If the cover gets non-stop coverage on the networks and cable news channels for all of next week, then sure, I'd be prepared to say it's a disaster on that magnitude. But I somewhat doubt it.
[It's already THE hot topic of the Web.]
Is Rove behind this?
[Congrats on being the first KOmmie to pin this on Karl Rove!]
Burn every magazine that dares print a viewpoint that might harm your candidate! Because if you don't, there's NO WAY he can win November! Run in fear! The Republicans are coming with silly pictures! Hide the children! Don't let the American people see!
[Do I hear Chicken Little clucking in the background?]
Time for Daily Kos Community To Mobilize a boycott that CRIPPLES the New Yorker.
[Cancel BOTH your subscriptions.]
I think they should be shut down. f*ck 'em. And I've read it my whole life. this is intolerable. They are off the rails. Time for an adveriser boycott.
[DUAC! DUAC!]
i think we should cripple the new yorker.
[Kneecap 'em!]
PING!
This cover now being talked about on Morning Joe. The buzz is OUT there!

"Honey, our hudna's over."
Nail in Obama’s political future?
ooooo.
10!
So, instead of DUAC we have KOSAC. I like it, it works.
L0L! No joy for the liberals
2006 Best News Cover Winner The New Yorker (February 27, 2006) Illustrated Watch Your Back Mountain featuring George W. Bush and Dick Cheney Nowadays, news is covered instantly on the Internet and on the talk and news shows, and expanded upon in newspapers and newsweeklies, making it increasingly difficult for anyone to say anything original. Yet thats what Mark Ulriksen managed in this Watch Your Back Mountain cover. Published when the movie Brokeback Mountain was about to be released, Ulriksens image evokes both the smugness of a vice president implicated in catastrophe and the cluelessness of a president incapable of stopping him. The image shows a couple of hapless chaps, prisoners of their fate and unable to alter the course of events they have set in motion.
I smell Hillary Clinton.
The New Yorker has always been full of Clintonoids, and the Democratic looney-bin convention is just around the corner.
Just in time for the super delegates to switch their allegiance?
http://www.necn.com/Boston/Politics/Campaigns-denounce-upcoming-New-Yorker-cover/1216033142.html
(NECN) - Both Campaigns are denouncing the upcoming cover of the New Yorker magazine.
The magazine shows Obama in full Muslim dress standing next to his wife Michelle, who’s carrying a machine gun.
The New Yorker insists the picture, which was titled “Politics of Fear” was meant to make fun of right wing depictions of the Obama’s.
An Obama campaign spokesperson called the cover tasteless and offensive. A sentiment echoed by the McCain campaign.
Juan, just STFU and let our enemies squabble.
Exactly. Let them fight it out and just watch, I swear McCain acting like he WANTS to lose this thing sometimes.
They're shocked, shocked, to discover that an editorial cartoon has an agenda behind it?
Yes, McCain repeat the mantra of your opponents, that should win us all over...You wimpy little liberal!
Merely for printing something you disagree with? You're just trying for a Peace, Love, and Tolerance Award™, aren't you?
Of COURSE it was. It couldn't possibly be trying to help out Hillary.
I do. $4.50 for The New Yorker is insane.
Behead The Enemies Of Obam!
Reminds of an Onion headline: “New Yorker Issue Unread In Four Boroughs.”
Sounds like this guy was being sarcastic. But overall, my personal response to the New Yorker cover is just: Geez. If this is what they do for the candidate they like, I shudder to see what they have planned for McCain.
Obama’s legacy.... this cover in doctors offices for the next 15 years.
Yeah so do I, send in the JBTs and shut that rag down. That freedom of the press thingy was a bad idea from day one.

Never underestimate the Republican capacity to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Too bad mccain is such a pussy.
At the very least, he could just say NOTHING about this hilarious (parody and comedy are often based on TRUTH) lib magazine cover.
Also, at the very least, mccain SHOULD be SLAMMING hussein on THE ISSUES, AND on his many gaffs, on his character and judgement, etc.
And this should be done EVERY DAY of the campaign.
But NOooooo. juan is "above" this type of rough and tumble politics (only the tradition and history of American politics from DAY ONE).
GROW A PAIR (you HAD a pair once, long ago), juan.
RINO fool (don't worry RINO lovers, I have decided I'll vote for the RINO over hussein).
Since you're posting here, I gather that you jabbed yourself with the EpiPen in time.
I am as excited as you are about holding my nose and doing the same:)

CLINGING TO GUNS AND RELIGION

COVER GUERILLA
That's what we do here at the DUmmie FUnnies, AKA . . .
THE NEW YACKER
That Ahmadinejad cover is a hoot.
If McCain loses, it will be because he doesn’t use teachable moments like this. If I were McCain, I would have condemned the cover too, but my condemnation would have been along the lines of...
“Where does the New Yorker get off acting like legitimate questions about this guy’s attitude and associations are some kind of hatemongering? Barack Obama is the least experienced major party candidate in 64 years, yet the press wants to act like asking him any questions in this job interview we’re having from now to November is the same as making him out to be an Al Qaeda member. It’s time for people to get a grip and stop demonizing debate over the very different visions of America that Senator Obama and I have.”
But of course.

I detect a note of sarcasm.
Another NOT ONE DAMN DIME DAY????. Wooohoooo, I love those!!!
Eww. You may want to stand upwind of the pantsuit.
The DUmp has about 200 threads about this OURAGE of a cover.
About 75% of the DUmmies are too stupid to see that this is an elitist, effete left-wing CARICATURE of how we knuckle-dragging, mouthbreathing, right-wing neanderthals in flyover country apparently view the Obamas.
In the same breath, these outraged DUmmies whine that the American people are so stupid and imbecilic that they will not see the cover for what it is: over-the-top satire of Republican attitudes. They think the cover actually WILL reinforce the sterotypes of Obama.
It’s hard to believe I breathe the same air as people this DUmb. Well, actually, I don’t. I live in Utah.
This, from the party of TOLERANCE and FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
bttt
You should be running McCain’s campaign. Heck, you should be running for President, period.
Michelle’s ‘fro is meant to recall Angela Davis.
The College Prof out in Kalifornicatia who was, they say, part of a torture/murder??? Of the GENRE AYERS etc etc ??
