Pelosi Says Drilling for More Oil “Not the Answer”

House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said calls by Republicans to drill for more oil “is not the answer America needs.”

“Making gasoline more affordable would be the exact opposite of what we need to do,” Pelosi asserted. “We need to wean the country off of its dependence on fossil fuels. We can only do this if we discourage Americans’ love affair with their cars and put an end to the frenzy of excessive and senseless driving.”

In support of her contention that Americans’ driving habits are “excessive” and “senseless,” the Speaker pointed to a recent study showing that rising fuel costs were linked to declining highway fatalities. The study by two university professors looked at fatalities and fuel prices over the 1985-2006 timeframe and concluded that fatalities dropped by two percent for every ten percent increase in gasoline prices.

“The fact that the peak gasoline price in 2006 was $2.50 a gallon tells me that at today’s $4 a gallon we’re saving even more lives,” Pelosi conjectured. “Rather than undermine this salubrious trend by attempting to reverse the rising costs of fuel we should be celebrating our good fortune.”

The rules don’t apply to the nobility. Many of the elites think they own the little people—you don’t get it. After all, hollywood tells us what is best and who is the best leader. So many people I talk to think Al Gore is the ultimate authority on global warming. Most are shocked when I tell them about all the money he will make off carbon credit trading. If the television networks weren't corrupt they would run a disclaimer next to Al's fat face every time he speaks on television. It should let the audience know about his profiteering and his own energy consumption which is 10,000 times as much as the average American. If they did this it would wake people up to the fraud being perpetrated by Fat Al and Company.

Cutting out the fluff driving is easy. Now it is about not being able to get to the work place.

My better half just said: “If I want to chose to drive across the country to visit family, I shouldn’t have to ask the Democrats for permission”.

Is the nation even awake? The Democrats are the cause of the gas prices (and they want it even higher). Surely they will be defeated at the ballot box in November.

Dunno. Nancy is acting like she expects to maintain or extend her majority in the house. But I think the tide is running against her and the Dems. Polls certainly are. Obambi at the top of the ticket doesn’t help as I think McCain will beat him handily.

However, if she wins, we’re screwed, bad.
