Killing Pirates: How Long Before American Pride Turns (Again)

Americans can take great pride in the successful rescue of a fellow American kidnapped by Somali pirates. The story is like one out of an old American history book: rough-and-ready American commandos (SEALs) swoop in and take down international outlaws on the high seas; the gentleman-officer of the US warship giving the order from the bridge of his ship as it pitches and rolls in the dark of night; the American merchant captain saved after willingly risking his own life for that of his crew. Great stuff.

The question now is: how long will that good feeling last in America before the left-wing nuts start their ritualistic condemnation of “excessive use of force,” “transgressions of human rights,” and for “violations of international law?” Probably, only a matter of days, if you ask me.

Well, there is a “comparison event” in President Reagan’s term in office. It was Grenada. All the news media was all over this and it was as if the “spell were broken” from the Vietnam War days...

See my list of Presidential Crises and see Reagan’s “Grenada” listing...

A previous post of mine below...

Well, an interesting thing happened on the way to Free Republic for me, a few days ago..., it just started with a simple post and two little items on it... I never intended for the following list to come about... LOL...

Here’s where it all started, and then some FReepers started giving me some more events.. :-)

THEN... it turned into this...

I have a friend who’s a liberal, an unusual sort of liberal though.

He loves America, and he really got a charge out of this rescue.

I always wonder why he doesn’t feel more uncomfortable when his compatriots are always so fast to dump on his country.

I’ve never figured out a way to ask that doesn’t offend him.

Screw the use of force. Killing them made my day. The only thing I wanted was the other one’s head on a plate. Now they will bring him here so he can get free health care, free food, and a jail cell until the ACLU can come up with reasons to get him off. Kill every damned one of them. TAKE NO PRISONERS! They don't take prisoners of ours, unless they want to cut the head off on film.

You said — You forgot Ruby Ridge in your list.

I depend on FReepers to keep bringing the information forward... :-)

I’ll add that one for review, and inclusion in the list. It takes a little while for updates to appear, especially since this is not my full-time job..., but thank you for the info...

You’re right-on one lefty site, an idiot posted a remark about what great Christians the SEALS were, for killing people on Easter Sunday (and I’m sure that lefty is always real pious /s), this only minutes after the rescue had been announced.

The one thing I don’t hear mentioned is the Muslim connection to all this piracy on the high seas. This is simply part of al Qaeda group think. Millions of African Christians are murdered by these monsters and nothing is done. These terrorists are supported by the left and silence is part of their sick game. The congressman who just flew from Somalia had his plane fired on, he was a part of the CBC and was stupid to think these people are reasonable.
