Senator Objects to Being Addressed as “Ma’am”
A Semi-News/Semi-Satire from AzConservative ^ | 21 June 2009 | John Semmens

Posted on 06/23/2009 10:30:06 AM PDT by John Semmens

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif) took offense when Brigadier General Michael Walsh used the phrase “yes, ma’am” in response to one of her questions during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, calling it a “typical demonstration of the military’s inherent disrespect for women.”

“They want us to accept it as a term of respect,” Boxer said. “Bit it’s a code word for what they’re really thinking—‘broad,’ ‘bitch,’ or something even more derogatory. After all, ‘ma’am’ is a contraction for ‘madam’—a term used to describe the head prostitute in a whorehouse.”

Boxer said that “the proper way for a so-called officer and gentleman, which these men claim to be, to address someone like myself would be ‘Senator Boxer,’ ‘the Honorable Barbara Boxer,’ or ‘sir’—terms that wouldn’t demean me by calling attention to my provocative breasts or moist and inviting genitalia.”

The Senator was further offended when the senate refused to pass a “motion of censure” chastising General Walsh. “I’m not surprised,” exclaimed an exasperated Boxer. “A majority of senators, like most men, are pigs.”

Ma’am was too generic for her. Her asking to be called ‘Senator’ is her way of saying that it is not sufficient to be a decent woman worthy of the proper form of respectful address AND that ma’am is a title which bears NO distinction

Maybe we should all call her office, and no matter who answers, say, “hello Mam”!!

First you have to actually be honorable! Shorty.

I don't think anyone would mistake Boxer for the madam of a whorehouse. That implies some managerial ability.

More likely one of the pathetic long-past-her-prime whores begging for attention.

Well, he was just being a “good ole boy”, you know, like down South. We all do that here, Yes ma’am and No ma’am...

I don’t know why she would get on her high horse... LOL...

I’m pretty sure I object to her being called “ma’am” too!

Ma’am is the term of respect the military uses.

And if Boxer thinks it’s disrespectful, then why did she call Secretary Rice “ma’am” when she testified?

“term used to describe the head prostitute in a whorehouse.”

Considering she works with the some biggest political whores in DC - guess the General nailed it!

Excellent points. It sure looks like Barbara Boxer was simply trying to find a reason to be offended. I’ve known a few feminists like this, just waiting for you to say the slightest wrong thing so they can have a reason to complain about how chauvinistic you are. If you don’t hold the door open for them, you’re a jerk, and if you do, you’re a male chauvinist pig.

OK, Senator Sh*t-head; glad you’re so damned special. I’m only a mediocre career military officer who has give his entire life in service to his country - honestly, I might add; which eliminates any comparison to you.

I think what this ignorant C*NT fails to realize is that she is a servant (An extremely well paid servant) no better, no worse than the person that serves my meal in a restaurant, or the guy that mows my lawn.
