Conservatives to 'Go Galt' on July 30, Protest Intensifies
Columbia Conservative Examiner ^ | June 30, 2009 | Anthony G. Martin

Posted on 06/30/2009 12:40:46 PM PDT by Welshman007

On July 30 conservatives plan to 'go Galt,' named after Ayn Rand's character John Galt in her book Atlas Shrugged. On that day millions plan to 'call in conservative,' refusing to go to work or to spend any money. Washington needs a serious, in-your-face wakeup call as citizens continue to grow increasingly angry over the government's socialist agenda that they seem determined to shove down our throats.

I would like to see everyone reduce their withholding to almost nothing for two months we would all agree on (maybe September and October) and use the money to pay down their debt. It would not hurt employers and it would make you even madder when you have to pay the gov’t cash on tax day.

I agree. A week would be much better. One week won’t be that bad.

I’m advising everyone I know to take as much of their personal and business economies underground as they can.
___________
I think that is being done on a much larger scale than they have even begun to realize.

Millions of this would send them reeling.

If someone says "What would Jesus do?" we can offer up the Jewish laws of the 10% tithe that went for the general welfare and provisions for the priests. And the practice of reserving 10% of wheat for a "rainy day." Also, that the poor were allowed to glean produce from the outer perimeters of the fields of the landowners for sustenance.

And to impress upon the one who asked "WWJD?" that it wasn't the landowners who were ordered to collect the produce for the poor; the poor had to break a sweat to get it. Unlike our poor today who expect the workers to work extra on their behalf.

I recall seeing a verse of Jesus' in the Gospels something along the line that one should not purposely become a burden on others. For the life of me I can't find that verse.

Maybe it's God's way of telling me that I need to need to stop being so lazy and get back to reading my Bible. And start with the gospels so I can find that verse!

You win - not only do you get a colonoscopy you get to spend the entire day before “sitting around”. Be sure to have plenty of reading materials in the bathroom.

Re: “June 30th, third anniversary of selling out and quitting work.

Seems so long ago, I sold my business K2 Technologies (with partners) to Cadence, in 2003, worked for 3 long years to meet the contract, and cashed out.

I went Galt before going Galt was the in-thing.”

Me too — no work since end of ‘05 — I’m ‘in’ for no spending on 7/30 — gotta start somewhere — this event needs publicity!!!!

What a wonderful world.

I’m working on writing the next great ‘Harry Potter’ series of novels. Goin Galt was never so much fun. Doesn’t matter if I never sell a copy. I sit by the river and watch Otter and Swallow catch bugs. My Mac book has a battery to last all day. Too bad my bladder doesn’t.

>>> I recall seeing a verse of Jesus’ in the Gospels something along the line that one should not purposely become a burden on others. For the life of me I can’t find that verse.

This it?:

2Cr 12:14 Here for this third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you; for I do not seek what is yours, but you; for children are not responsible to save up for {their} parents, but parents for {their} children.

Also related.... “Neither a debtor or a lender be...”

Still looking for that one, but I know it’s in there.

There’s a verse in the Old Testament that says that a man who does not support his family is worse than an infidel. Also, Paul said whoever does not work, should not eat.
