On July 30 conservatives plan to 'go Galt,' named after Ayn Rand's character John Galt in her book Atlas Shrugged. On that day millions plan to 'call in conservative,' refusing to go to work or to spend any money. Washington needs a serious, in-your-face wakeup call as citizens continue to grow increasingly angry over the government's socialist agenda that they seem determined to shove down our throats.
>>> Sorry, but the small guy is about to get crushed by the Socialist Agenda anyway.
That is what they want.
What they don’t want is their constituency no longer receiving their paychecks for sitting on their asses... or getting home loans they know they can’t pay back... so how are you going to “shrug” that?
It’s not really about bringing down the rich and lifting up the poor... it’s about shifting the wealth from capitalists to socialists.
Capitalism makes it possible for anyone to succeed.
Socialism demands conformity and dependence for success.
Punishing the capitalist only furthers the socialist’s agenda. Instead of disengaging from captialism for a day, maybe we should try disengaging from socialism for a month... a quarter... a year.
Be sure to keep the TV off that day.
always an excuse
I’m advising everyone I know to take as much of their personal and business economies underground as they can.
Don’t feed the beast that’s feeding on you
My thought process and logic engine ran like yours.
What if we all went to the bank and withdrew all our money on the same day? Force the system down? Afterall, that is what Gault’s purpose was. Force the system to crash under its own weight without the support of the producers.
Of course we would have to go back to the bank the next day with stashes of money. That’s two trips to the bank and one day and night of worrying about being robbed of all your money.
They have us just where they want us, complacent, apathetic, ignorant and hopeless. (as a population I mean not FReepers)
>>> always an excuse
for what? living? or not fighting?
Fact is, I don’t even subscribe to cable anymore... it’s clearly a socialist entity.
I don’t patronize known contributors to the socialist agenda.
The fastest way to lose my business (ANY DAY and EVERY DAY) is to reveal your democratic leanings by statement or deed.
I am not expanding my business through employment as long as the government seeks to punish me for it.
I am however seeking partners to share in the capitalist adventure.
I am exploiting every legal means available to me to reduce my bottom line through business expenses so that our socialist government will be forced to go elsewhere to get its money-fix for their dependents (voters).
At the same time, I spend those expenses on those who have woken up to the fact that you cannot wait on government.
Taking a “day” to not spend money on “anything” misses the point, and has the equivalent effect of cutting 100 mil from a 10 trillion dollar budget.

My guess is that Californians are generally way ahead of everyone else on this approach.... even the liberal ones.
It serves as an excellent model of what needs to happen with our federal government.... the sooner the better.
I went Galt on 3/3/03. Cashed in my options and opened my own business.
Never looked back. I call my friends when I am in my morning staff meeting (sitting down reading the paper, if you know what I mean.) They are all stuck in meetings and in-fighting.
I work harder and make less.
Life is good.
I think we’d do better with another Tea Party type protest. This is going to fall flat on its face, just like the times the gays and the illegals did it.
Thank you.
I’m not one of those event type individuals either. I was more expecting one of those “conservative’s don’t do that type of thing”.
I’ve been doing it for years. It just hasn’t occurred to a lot of folks. Time to put the program on steroids, though...
You’re right. Better to organize short-term (say three months) rolling boycotts of different economic sectors. The financial world thinks in terms of quarters, not days. Still, the goal here is what? I’m all for political action, but a National Do-Nothing Day seems silly (no offense to Ayn Rand).
You're gonna have to explain how that is even possible, and how that would even have an impact.
Sorry, but the socialist ALWAYS throw guilt in our face. “Do it for the children”, “We have to help these people”, “What would Jesus do?” They are like mental vampires, they feed off the good will of those who produce to enrich themselves. I’m through listening to anybody throw guilt my way.
Amen.
Then I diversified my holdings.
already there

We can start by not investing in government bonds as one example... but there are actually many ways.
They can tell us how much of what we earn must be paid in taxes, but they cannot tell us how much to earn.
The logical and unavoidable end of socialism is poverty for all. Those who are capable should do everything in their power to help the needy DIRECTLY or through their favorite charity... NOT THROUGH THE GOVERNMENT. The ones who can continue to “afford” to not care how much the government takes are the very ones who should be doing everything in their power to reduce how much they owe to government. There are lots of ways this can be done legally for now... but primarily through business expenses.
If we wait for the government to choke the life out of everybody before it implodes on it’s own debt, then there is nothing left to recover with. Those who think they are well off now, and recognize that they are the target of higher taxes should be deferring as much of their income as possible, and should be doing everything they can to legally deny every penny they can to the government. This basically forces the government to go down the chain where most of the money really is... until the majority of the populace understands that their real enemy is not the rich, but those who seek to destroy the rich.
Joe the plumber understands. We need to get his message out... BY EXAMPLE.
We’re in. We are retired, but we will not purchase anything. I would like to see this go on longer, but people do have to work.
>>> Im not one of those event type individuals either. I was more expecting one of those conservatives dont do that type of thing.
When we figure out how to take down the state-run media, an event based statement might be more worthwhile.
Right now, it is just worthless.
How’s this for an event... picket lines and protests against biased news coverage in front of the major news competitors.... Do it one network at a time, and have good examples to put on the picket signs... so that other biased networks can take advantage of the opportunity to “eat their own”.
We need to take the fight to where the real enemy is.
