Secessionist movement under way in Texas
Examiner ^

Posted on 08/28/2009 11:36:04 AM PDT by wk4bush2004

Fiercely independent and thoroughly horrified at the blatantly unconstitutional explosion of federal tyranny into every aspect of our lives, Texans are set to march on the state capitol in droves on Saturday. They will be delivering a million-strong petition to their elected officials based on the 10th Amendment, demanding an immediate constitutional confrontation with Washington.

If they are turned away or their concerns inadequately addressed, organizer Gerry Donaldson says they "will be forced to call for a vote for secession." This will not be the last time a state openly defies Obama's treasonous war on the Constitution.

Donaldson, who runs his own Internet radio show, says they are "calling for an orderly process that will allow our federal government to fall back in line with the Constitution." He continued, "Either we will restore America, we will live in a Marxist dictatorship, or we will secede and start over again."

Regulations handcuff drilling and refining.
Stop that and TX does fine.

In addition, the federal constitution, of which Texas is a signitory, forbids any state from being formed out of another.

Not true.

It's not simple, but it's doable.

From Article IV, Section 3 of the US Constitution:

...no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.

Could you please spell out the specifics of how E&P is handcuffed in Texas?

As for me, I live in Texas and have worked in the oil field for more than 20 years and the only handcuffs on drilling in Texas is the low price of oil.

Now, if you would like for us to drill more in Texas, you must also like me want to see oil priced at more than $100.00 a barrel.

Well cool! As usual, you have all the answers.
They can sell their oil and gas, then built their refineries and they are good to go as a Republic.

Since you always have the most liberal answers, I suspect that you may not like the idea, but it’s not really your call, is it?

Actually the low price of oil is actually a kind of handcuff on drilling. As for the handcuffs intended in the original commentary, I thought we were limited in what we could do offshore, and the regulations for putting in new wells etc were rather overbearing.

Again, federal regulations did not cause the Texas rig count to fall last fall. Instead, it was the decrease in the price of oil.

When the price of oil climbs above $90.00 the Texas rig count will increase. If the price can be sustained above $100.00, you will see lots of E&P in Texas and Louisiana.

As far as Texas is concerned, it is going to stay in the Union since Texans do not want to leave the Union and a state cannot leave the Union.

Finally, Texas is undergoing a shift in demographics that will make Texas a Democratic state in ten years.

...I remember, Texans wanting to join a union and be out of tyrannical rule. This is just as important for Texas, and the rest of the union to be out of tyrannical rule of the Federal Government...

...Wish it were not to this point, but, it is, and Texas, like the Alamo must be protected...

...My hope is that the Feds will not fight this, give the states the rights within the Constitution and the union will be preserved...

If only all the states would secede at once, we would be the United States again.

I presume you mean the ones that are more or less fed up with the situation that might be inclined to go all in. I don't know if that's the answer or not. Could be. It would certainly get odinga to cut his vacation(s) short. I just hope there are better minds at work on this problem of ours. God only knows we seem to be running out of options.

Maybe KY will follow Texas’ lead.

I expect they would - eventually. FWIW, I doubt Texas is going to do anything dramatic in the immediate future but it would by nice to have the folks from KY on our side if TSHTF. Texas would probably need all the support it could get.

“From Article IV, Section 3 of the US Constitution:”

Absolutely right. I stand corrected. Think West Virginia.

Besides, Kentuckians were the second largest group at the Alamo! That ought to count for something! ;)

Sadly, politicians and bureaucrats will probably not see past their own egos, lust for power, and greed.

Heh. Maybe we could trade oil for bourbon. The bourbon might come in handy down here if things go from bad to worse. I can’t say the same for all Texans but I know a few good ol’ boys who after a few shots of Kentucky’s best can catch bullets with their teeth.

I have suspended my pledging of allegiance to the cotton/rayon banner (made in China) that represents the fascist dictatorship of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Fwank, Schoooooooooooooomah, and all of the rest of these Leftist sh*ts. When over 40% of the US Senate is comprised of a communist group that represents less than 2% of the American population, its time to look for a more sane government in a safer place. I do not live to serve these collectivist pigs who live like princes while Americans wallow...

Don't worry, Texas. If the Feds send land troops they will have to cross our territory. Federal supply lines will be impossible to maintain. We have them surrounded before they ever leave their barracks.
