New Obama Military Rules of Engagement:, Don’t shoot back
Backpacker ^ | Jul. 04 2009

Posted on 11/11/2009 6:52:34 PM PST by clove

Recently on ABC television news, one of their videos showed a U.S. Marine hunkered down in Afghanistan complaining on camera that he was not allowed to shoot back when under fire. This situation resulted from Obama’s new rules of engagement from his new Afghanistan commander. General McChrystal explained it to BBC news that they are now advising troops to break off from firefights with the Taliban, "If you are in a situation where you are under fire from the enemy... if there is any chance of creating civilian casualties or if you don't know whether you will create civilian casualties, if you can withdraw from that situation without firing, then you must do so”

“What did you expect? The Dimocrats are in “charge.” It’s what they do.....screw things up royally! “

I disagree. The democrats are succeeding in their goal. Their goal is to lose this war. They want to do this so that the USA won’t ever think about another war ever.

They are worried that a successful war will only encourage US military intervention in the future.

For them, this can not be allowed. For the democrats, we must lose this war and Obama is doing everything he can to lose it.

“Reading Miranda Rights to Terrorists Is ‘Crazy’ and ‘Stupid,’ Say GOP Congressmen”

“...The Obama administration’s decision to make this statement to terror suspects captured on the battlefield in a foreign country has sparked outrage among several Republicans in Congress who spoke with CNSNews.com. It also contradicts what President Barack Obama said in March, when he indicated that Miranda rights did not apply to terror suspects captured overseas...”

Being prohibited from firing back is alarmingly reminiscent of Fort Hood’s massacre.

Umm, isn't the point of war to kill the enemy?

If you're intent upon genocide, sure. Otherwise, the point of war is to make your enemy tractable to your dictates until he's no longer your enemy.

I guess firebombing Berlin and obliterating two cities in Japan didn't work out so well either.

Neither ended the resistance of the governments we were at war with, as keeping hold of the reins of power superseded any concerns about the suffering of their civilian populations. Do you expect the Taleban would be any different?

How can a commander-in-chief who has no military experience, let alone combat experience, have any input into the ROE in a war? He has no frame of reference. I say let him serve some time on the front line, sans the Secret Service, before he changes the ROE.

This is nothing but a “Turn~n~Run” order the way I read it!

This had to come from O’Bammy,,,

McChrystal has to be his “Yes Man”,,,

What else could it be ???

This must go down to the company level,,,

That's the part that Hurts...

For those of us who have served in uniform and for those of us who have family forced to serve under these immoral conditions the time to quietly observe and pray has ended. There is a new activist emerging; not like the cannabis induced flailing of the sixties and seventies but one with the discipline, training and tenacity of a Warrior. Those of us who have a history in this Warrior culture and a vested interest on the battlefield will be a lot more vocal from this point on. Those in this culture who do not yet know about this immoral ROE change will soon all know as well as the families of those who are imperiled by it. Those who have actively supported this policy of immorality or are not engaged enough to know of it; they will be re-introduced to your constituencies for their failings. Public service is precisely what it portends to be; service. If there are those among your number who have failed to remember that I can promise you we will make that known within our spheres of influence.

Never aim a Marine at something that you don't want dead.
Our elected government is leaving the defenders of this nation exposed and they're not loosing any sleep over it.

Damn them, damn them all.

TREASON

Recently on ABC television news, one of their videos showed a U.S. Marine hunkered down in Afghanistan complaining on camera that he was not allowed to shoot back when under fire. This situation resulted from Obama’s new rules of engagement from his new Afghanistan commander. General McChrystal explained it to BBC news that they are now advising troops to break off from firefights with the Taliban, “If you are in a situation where you are under fire from the enemy... if there is any chance of creating civilian casualties or if you don’t know whether you will create civilian casualties, if you can withdraw from that situation without firing, then you must do so”
And the U.S. Marines are following the new rules of engagement. This week, Bravo Company of the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment in Nawa, Afghanistan surprised a bunch of Taliban insurgents who started shooting at the U.S. Marines. The Marines could have wiped out the Taliban insurgents by calling in an air strike which was circling overhead. Instead, they followed the new rules of engagement. The U.S. commander said, “We made the decision to isolate the compound and not destroy it because we couldn’t confirm if civilians were inside,” The result, one U.S. Marine dead, one wounded, and the Taliban insurgents escaped out the back.

Obama would rather have a U.S. Marine die for his country than have a Taliban insurgent die for his religious extremism. Is this the way the U.S. should be fighting a war?

GET OUR TROOPS OUT UNTIL WE GET OBAMBI OUT. ONCE OBAMBI IS OUT WE CAN PUT OUR TROOPS BACK INTO COMBAT

If you're intent upon genocide, sure.

That's such a strawman and you know it.

Unfortunately, these people have an ideology so ingrained in their head's that they will never stop being our enemy.

Neither ended the resistance of the governments we were at war with, as keeping hold of the reins of power superseded any concerns about the suffering of their civilian populations. Do you expect the Taleban would be any different?

Didn't the allies win in Europe and the Pacific? As for the Taliban, I thought the whole goal of the War on Terror was to eliminate any an all supporters of global terrorism. That means there is going to be civilian casualties. I would rather it be them than Americans.

“Now, just watch. When a soldier shoots back, he will be called up for investigation and tried for war crimes.”

You don’t know how close you are. Are our troops being set up?

9-10-09

“U.N. Lawyers Target U.S. Troops”

“Justice: As if fighting a war in Afghanistan isn’t hard enough, ambitious global prosecutors have rolled into Kabul looking to charge U.S. troops. Intentional or not, such legalism will sap U.S. morale as it did in Vietnam.

At about the time NATO’s new secretary-general, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, warned NATO’s European members against an early pullout, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the top prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, whose body is charged with looking for international war criminals, announced he was looking for new “clients” from anyone with a grievance in Afghanistan.

At a briefing Wednesday in The Hague, Moreno-Ocampo said he had launched a new war crimes inquiry, seeking information about “torture” especially — a European obsession — and had already mined the human rights groups for stories. He added he was also “very open” to more information from foreign governments.

Oh, he’d been evenhanded in his Monday-morning battlefield quarterbacking of course, promising he’d prosecute both Taliban and NATO troops as moral equals.

But it doesn’t take a genius to know what the spotlight-loving attorney (who once launched his own reality TV show back in Argentina) is really after: Americans in the dock as war criminals.

The atmosphere that makes a prosecutor like Moreno-Ocampo ambitious enough to go after Americans instead of a real monster like, say, Fidel Castro, can only occur when the West’s will has weakened, as Rasmussen warned.”

The Face of Cowardice
Monday, November 9, 2009

And the meltdown begins. The entire US government - President on down to the Congressional ‘Leadership’ is nothing but a bunch of absolute, spineless cowards! The left has always said the military should only be used to defend these shores, translated - wait until they land in Boston or Manhattan or DC, and then we can fight them. CRAP! They would sell this country out in a heart-beat! How many Marines and Soldiers have died taking and holding ground that the ‘Great Generals’(there isn’t a decent star in the bunch) now want to turn over to the enemy?

Hey,IDIOTS in DC listen up; THE ENEMY IS ISLAM and always has been! Waiting on you to finally develop a spine and some sense of moral indignation is like waiting for you to finally decide there really is a God, a Devil, right/wrong and a responsibility to protect that which you have sworn to protect. You are all useless and now you intend to waste all of those lives spent to deny the enemy ground to go to.

Congratulations; you are now officially cowards and enemies of your own country and people! You disgust me to a man - and woman. Start looking for work because we are going to see to it that you all, whether ‘D’ or ‘R’ are out of work in 2010!

To everyone else on this list; if you have not been paying close attention to all of this, understand that this is exactly what we have been waiting for; the cowards to finally sell us downstream. The stories that have come out in the past week are unbelievable. From paying the Taliban to switch sides to now relinquishing ground Marines and Soldiers bought with blood, giving it back to the Taliban.

We don’t need a new ‘strategy’; we need to fight the original one with so much intensity that the very rocks cry out for mercy (no intent at sacrilege)! Scorched Earth should be the order of the day. Once again; THERE ARE NO HEARTS AND MINDS TO WIN!!! They are all enemy. The men are Jihadists, the women bare children that become...let me think...Jihadists.

If you don’t want to see this country reverted into a 21st century version of a third world dust bowl we had better make sure these bone-heads in the ‘Dark City’ are ALL on the unemployment line in 2010!

Disgusted beyond any description;

John Bernard
1stSgt USMC ret and thoroughly ashamed of this government

We’d wished we’d have specialized COIN units within the U.S. Army and Marines, because regular units are not suited for occupation & COIN warfare.

The troops within these specialized units will be more mature and older than the young ones populating as regulars.
