Emotions run high at a protest over a banner that depicts President Obama as the Joker from Batman. Some call it racist and disrespectful. Others say race has nothing to do with the issue.
The image is stirring up quite a bit of controversy. You can see the large sign is displayed outside of Club Velvet, a gentlemen's club in Richmond.
The banner led to a protest by the NAACP. The organization says the image is not only an attack on the president, but on all men and people of African descent.
"The presence of a black president that has African blood is very troublesome to many in this country," said King Salim Halfani. "They can no longer hide their prejudices."
Not everyone agrees. Some who showed up here say the sign is a reflection of outrage by the American people who are unhappy with President Obama.
"I don't think it's racial at all. I think the administration is a joke and that's the theme behind the picture," said Frank Singleton.
The owner of the club did issue a statement, which in part says, "Anyone who believes this banner is racist is an ignoramus. And just because the president is part black doesn't mean he can't be criticized."
The NAACP says it will continue to express its displeasure with the sign until it comes down.

Hypocritical is right! Remember W as the Joker? Guess they have short memories (to match their shortened morals!)
I am disrespectful to the president because .... well, ... I don’t respect him.
...and an African birthplace.
Got that right, Rick. This JOKER shall be EXPOSED & the TRUTH shall reign supreme!
“The presence of a black president that has African blood is very troublesome to many in this country,”
Bahahahah! Please, the guy was raised as white as the driven snow. Let’s call him Bo White!
Wait a minute. I understand that he is 1/2 white, 1/4 arab and 1/4 black. How does that make him a black president? The blacks must be racist for not respecting his heritage. Have the no decency dissing this fellow? As to the “joker” thing, there are good parallels between him and the joker character.
besides... would you pass up an opportunity to torque off a liberal? not me
Tough oats..if it was so ok for them to put out posters of Bush looking like Hitler, then they can shut the hell up. Dish it up but can’t take it..typical Democrap.
What a bunch of doufouses.
“”The presence of a black president that has African blood is very troublesome to many in this country”
No the presence of an aryan, white raised biracial with no slave blood, pretending to be an African American so he can play the race card bothers me
The Joker was a lot smarter than 0bama.
black president that has African blood is very troublesome to many in this country,” said King Salim Halfani Another lie of the left.
Well, well, well look who is calling the pot racist. For if Obama is half white and half black, which part of him, can be criticized.
The original premise of NACCP was in eliminating social prejudice, which now has become its own racial precepts and preferences. No, sir, the only empirical racists within the U.S. which are influential on the matter are those that play the race hustle and call themselves advancers of colored people, who are the racists, now demonstrating to always having been; for everyone has color.
Keep in mind that Lincoln, Harding, and Coolidge had African ancestry also. It is also thought that Jefferson and Jackson has some African ancestry that predated US independence.
This is one time when the original movie tag line works best:
WHY SO SERIOUS?
Great self-reminder.....I still have a couple of dozen of those on little 2 inch stickers; I’m packing them because we’re headed over to Arizona on Tuesday, and I’ll have some fresh stickin’ grounds to take advantage of.
It’s socially beneficial to upset hate groups like the NAACP. Keep them exposed.
