BREAKING: Netanyahu to Announce Settlement Freeze: "Hey Mr. Abbas, Put Tuchas Offen Tisch!"
Haaretz/The Lid ^ | 11/25/09 | The Lid

Today Bibi Netanyahu played a brilliant move, in Yiddish its called Hey put tuchas offen tisch, literally, Hey put your "arse" on the table (put up or shut up). He offered a ten month freeze in settlement building in exchange for restarting the peace plans. I doubt very strongly the freeze will every happen.

The truth is the real reason there is no peace is the Palestinians don't want peace. No other country in the world has made concessions the way Israel has. Since 1977, we they given up areas of land three times the size of the State of Israel. The Oslo process began in 1993. Sixteen years have passed since then, and they are no closer to a permanent settlement. The Palestinians don't want peace, its bad for buisness. It is the hatred of Israel that allows the PA to keep power. It deflects public anger from their own fraud, theft of public funds and incompetence, to that "evil Zionist entity:"

The problem for Israel is not “palestinians” but the”world” of islam teaming to bulldog Israel and destroy the infidels.

Palestinians are just a front.

Israel has a right to those lands and much much more if you look at history.

...hatred of Israel, and no movement on peace is money in the bank and a bird in the bush.

So my proposal, All territory now ceded to so called Palestine, will be taken over in one year by Israel and refugees will be sent to the nearest Arab country, where they should have been in 1967 following the skirmish.

He offered a ten month freeze in settlement building in exchange for restarting the peace plans.

Sounds like a sign of weakness to me. He sounds desperate to get the peace talks going again. He is giving up a bargaining chip for what? Starting peace talks again?

And this undermines Israel's basis position that they were not expanding settlements beyond natural growth. How can Israel defend stopping all settlement building for just ten months? Why not a year or five years? Netanyahu just caved.

I suspect that the goal is to set the Palestinians up and wait for them to torpedo the peace process (again). I don’t think Netanyahu is taking a big risk here.

The Palestinians can just buy ten months more of peace talks in exchange for a ten month freeze in settlements. And then it will be difficult for Netanyahu to back away after ten months, especially if there is “progress” in the talks. The US will pressure Israel to continue the dialogue.

It is Israel is dependent on the USA --That is a fact of life --They have almost no choice other than to go down fighting or gradual surrender

Nothing can appease the militant Palestinian, short of the entire state of Israel re-enacting the Zealots stand at Masada.

So their fate is sealed?

Barring some kind of miracle it sure seems that way --do you see any other result ?

I thought he offered this months ago - a freeze that does not include Jerusalem and does not include already approved building.

I think someone’s spin machine is at work here.

If he wanted the hostage back he should be emulating what the Russians did in Lebanon.

This is one that the Hezzies have had for a while, what almost two years? Anyway... The Germans are mediating. Again.

Indeed, the Palestinians are just a front for the world of Islam. Islam wants to rule the world, and be the only religion. US has played the part of a fool, I do think.
