Many evangelicals wondered why under heaven Pastor Rick Warren, Saddleback mega-Church, was so cordial to Barack Hussein Obama during the presidential campaign.

Countless conservatives were so taken aback that they couldn’t digest the facts when first told.

He’s cozy with Obama. He should ask for a bail-out.

If you can afford, as pastor of a church, to tithe 90 percent of your income to the church, you are making way too much, IMHO.

He lives comfortably on his book royalties and speaking fees.

>> I trust no one in charge of a mega church.

I would direct your attention to Dr. Edwin Young of Second Baptist Church in Houston (the second largest church in the country ... 5 campuses, 50K members). He would state that you shouldn’t trust him, you should trust God’s word ... read for yourself.

He is a genuinely good man, and devout conservative Christian. He’s not afraid of edgy or secularly controversial sermons. He frequently mentions in his sermons the fact that abortion is the single greatest issue leading to America’s moral problems. He took a shot at Nancy Pelosi in last weeks sermon (as he read a Christmas list from his granddaughter which included a request for $1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (there were 61 zeroes) ... and called her the next Pelosi).

Though he does not take side with any political party from the pulpit he is a red-blooded patriotic American conservative.

Gee, Warren ought to rename his outfit Brokeback Mountain Ministries. He’s just another Gramscian shill for communism.

My preferenc is to come to my own arrangement with my Creator. Don’t trust middlemen: they always have an agenda.

these two-faced clergy are always such a detriment to the One without a pillow to lay His head.

Jesus does weep.

and do his genuine sheep.

Jesus said “Come unto ME.”

no need for middle this and that.

go directly.

His line available 24 / 7, thank heaven.

he has never forsake me. i’ve lived for him since 7 years of age. all is well in that department for when God said, “Prove me now. . .” he meant it and i know it to be fact.

I am NOT a fan of Warren, however, Warren and his wife tithe 90% of all their incomes to the church...they didn’t always, they started out giving 10% and eventually went to 90%.

Warren loves to blow the trumpet about his "90% tithe" (see Matthew 6:1-2) but most of that charitable giving goes to the Peace Fund which he personally controls.

Nobody ever thought any less of Billy Graham because he had the guts to man up, admit he had no business promoting politicians and then kept his promise from then on.

This is the same phony piece of slime who spoke at the Islamic Society of North America convention AFTER ISNA was revealed to be a Muslim Brotherhood front group and was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial.

He’s for sale, always has been.

(reply): I suspect this comes from book royalties and not salary...

(counter-reply): but think of the tax writeoff on 90 PERCENT of his income being donated

Kramer : It's just a write off for them.

Jerry : How is it a write off?

Kramer : They just write it off.

Jerry : Write it off what ?

Kramer : Jerry all these big companies they write off everything.

Jerry : You don't even know what a write off is.

Kramer : Do you?

Jerry : No. I don't.

Kramer : But they do, and they are the ones writing it off .

there is usually a dirty twist when advertising publicly your giving to God.

i thought Jesus said something about doing that sort of move in secret so that Father can take care of broadcasting detail if HE wants.

anyhow, the widow with her two pence comes to mind and how we love that woman—anonymous though she be.

sally???? of all creatures with pastor and wifey.

she made me sick with her phony religiosity.

warren should join the other scammers and just close up pulpit, go to the salvation army and help fill up the soup bowls.

these blowhards are sickening.

I'm disappointed in the attitude of my fellow freepers in this issue. Rick Warren is a fine man. I don't agree, however, with the face time he gave 0bama during the election. Neither do I agree with his statement that "Christians worship the same god as muslims." But that is no reason to trash him.

The man is pastor of a large church. That is no reason to trash him either. So his church is facing a shortfall... and so he is appealing to church members to give a little extra to meet that short fall. It doesn't make him the demon you all seem to portray.

It is one thing to criticize. That is valid. It is quite another to slime a good man who has said some things with which you disagree. That's deplorable.

Now I'll brace myself to be trashed and slimed by my own fellow travelers. I hope it doesn't happen. I hope you all are decent enough to accept a little criticism from one of your own fellow-conservatives.

Rick, why don’t you ask BO for some stash money ? You got him votes, now ask for your payoff.

i say this kindly, but what is quoted below is FAR OVER THE LINE FOR A BIBLICAL PASTOR:

“Christians worship the same god as muslims.”

when a supposed biblical clergyperson makes that statement or one like it, he has blasphemed Jesus who said He is the only way to the Father.

sorry that warren gets some slime on responses at this time, but warren has set himself up for it with his extremism against the gospel message that is so clear one has to be a fool not to get it—especially with conservative theological education.

Hold on, you sound like the democrats complaining about CEO pay...NONE of their, or our, buisness what people make....you have to keep in mind that MOST of his income has been coming from book sales, not his church salary.

Rick Warren knowingly accepted an invitation to speak before a Muslim Brotherhood front that was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism financing trial in US history. He is on the wrong side.
