UK Telegraph/The Lid ^ | 1/2/10 | The Lid

Word to the British, you better buy a new winter coat. Experts are predicting that this will be one of the coldest winters in the past 100 years. This kind of weather was predicted by scientist, Mojib Latif who back in September predicted that earth was going to cool off for the next 20-30 years. Latif said the cooling would be the result of changes to ocean currents and temperatures in the North Atlantic, a feature known as the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) and the NAO may be partly the cause of warming during the past 30 years.

Its ironic that in Britain, home of the Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia, recently made famous by the climategate is facing one of the coldest winters in 100 years, experts predict temperatures hitting minus 16 degrees Celsius (+3 Fahrenheit).

Not just the NAO, but also the PDO (Pacific Decadal Oscillation) PLUS the reduced solar activity AND the reduction in photo-reactive aerosols (ie CFCs) and you have a recipe for authentic colder weather.

Wow.

Whoulda thunkit?

The Earth is cooling...but that’s actually caused by global warming. I guess you have to be a lib to figure that one out.

Last week a scientist predicted the worst cold snap in 25 years for the early part of January across the northern hemisphere. In my neck of the woods, its 7*F with clear skies. Maybe he was right.

It's c-c-c-c-cold in Florida today, too. I went to the Penguins/Lightning game this afternoon in Tampa and I was shivering after the game when I left the arena.

This whole AGW scam should be history given the 11 year cooling cycle, the notably bad "science" and the recent whistle-blower email bust of Mann, Jones and CRU. Yet the left & Big Government statists & and their media accomplices seem determined to keep the hoax and the lie alive.

Zero here. New years eve was minus 15. That was really cold for a dress shirt and leather jacket. The air was so still, you could actually warm up a little by standing perfectly still. Once the air next to your skin and clothes warmed up a little, you felt warmer. I amused myself for a few minutes standing perfectly still with my fingers curled up inside the cuff of my leather jacket and then extending them outside the cuff and counting the seconds before fingertips go numb.

I actually had to wear a jacket here in Delray Beach. It’s COLD! I was thinking a little global warming would be nice, we’ve had to turn our heater on.

wow! Just read the reader’s comments on this article and the comments were scarier than the article for the most part. But then it is the NY Times isn’t it? Can’t expect much from their readers.

Gee didn’t Prince Charles just tell us in Copenhagen that we had perhaps months before we would be over the global warming tipping point? I hope it gets cold enough in the UK that it freezes the balls off his polo ponies.
