In an era where almost every other space program is being cut, India and China continue moving forward.
Following China's successful manned launch several years ago, India now plans to launch it own manned mission by 2016. India hopes to be ready for a manned lunar mission by 2025. This comes the same week that news that Barack Obama plans to completely end the new U.S. lunar mission proposed by President Bush, which planned to land men on the moon by 2020 with future planning for a Mars mission.

Let some other country go pick up rocks on the moon for billions apiece. I have a beach nearby, where for the price of a tank of gas, I can do the same.
Science is great, and all, but the moon is not the frontier for the application of marginal cash, IMHO.
How much do we already outsource to India as is..?
maybe we could partnership.. or something, a consortium..
We are broke. The Haitians are demanding something nicer than the FEMA trailers. Each one needs a palace so we have to comply.
Blame the liberal TV newsmedia and TV for your serfdom. Keep watching and keep empowering them.
Let the best civilization win. If we don’t, we ain’t. :)
I’d rather mine the moon. All those minerals. All that Tritium. No EPA. Free power from sunlight, and no clouds.
There’s PROFIT to be made in the High Frontier. . .

I agree. Inter-planetary manned space flight is a waste of time. Mars’ weak magnetic core prevents any long-term colonization, and that’s the only viable option. So, why bother?
So what was the use of going back to the moon again anyway, was that part of a larger inter-planetary space agenda?
Going to the moon is soooooo 1960’s.

welcome to New Kenya.
Unlike most govt programs the Space Program actually does result in jobs and new science.
Wheres HHS, USDA, DOE and EPA are complete wastes and eat up far more money.
BO pledge $8 billion for a high speed train in Florida. That $8 would have got us to the moon. Instead it will build a fraction of a train that nobody will ride.
Cut it all, cut all government spending by 90%.
