NRA supports Harry Reid who supports Judge Sonia Sotomayor who aligns herself with Anti-Gun Policies
Las Vegas Sun ^ | 03292010

National Rifle Association of America Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre snuggles up to Harry Reid.

Will you continue to part with your HARD EARNED $$$$$$ to support the National Rifle Association now that the NRA has shown that it aligns itself (more than likely politically as well) with Harry Reid?

I would think that the big tuff NRA would align itself with a REAL HUNTER and Marksman such as Sarah Palin. After all, they were all in Nevada at the same time.

Oh so very telling, isn't it?

Like the man said, piss-poor PR. There was no way to avoid that trap. It was a pure, pre-planned propaganda move by that turkey-necked old bastard Reid, to distract from the Tea Party rally and con the rubes into thinking that he was 'one of them'. A photo op. He was nothing more than a Nazi showing up at a bar mitzvah wearing a yarmulke and claiming he's responsible for the Latkes on the table. The NRA can't back away from making a pro-2nd Amendment appearance at a shiny new shooting park just because they don't like the delivery boy (and all Reid did was deliver the funds to the local government, BTW, not deliver the park itself). And further: this gun park has held three different openings since last August. One of which Wayne LaPierre already attended, sans Dingy Harry. Being rooked like that sucks, yes, but LaPierre can't endanger the entire organization by displaying personal bias. You can bet he wasn't happy about it, either, but Reid is an evil, manipulative SOB with no conscience whatsoever. His day of reckoning is coming, though. It's coming.

I agree with all of your above.

I can sort of understand the NRA because it rewards loyalty....there are a few pacs follow and I'll support individual canadidates, but I think the days of sending money to the NRA are long gone..

Perhaps because the National RIFLE Association chose to support a politician that came out and supported a RIFLE range rather than a generic political movement? Focus on message?

IMHO, when a Democrat or Republican or Libertarian or ANY politician turns out at a pro-gun event it's best to make that high-profile. Not only does it further reinforce the message of the 2nd Amendment, it makes it that much harder for the politician to backpedal and support restriction of 2A rights without the blatant hypocrisy being that much stronger.

Man, I hope so. We need a hard U-Turn in November. If not, all bets are off...

Sometimes, all you can do is hold your nose and take your medicine, as nasty as it might taste. But you can bet that somewhere in a dark back room in Fairfax, knives are being sharpened. That's how they play the game.

That is a real and present danger of one-issue groups like the NRA. They will never learn how they weaken themselves in such instances.

And you can bet that somewhere in a dark back room in Mayberry, knives are being sharpened. That's the other way the game can be played.

“garbage strewn wasteland” works for me.

I hear ya. I use a nice range ($6 buys you as much time as you like), but I'd love to be able to go out in the desert, problem is, the county banned shooting on open county land that isn't city, reservation, or federal land. The federal land abutting the open county land is also off-limits. So, the $6 isn't too awful bad to go to a place where I can enjoy my day.

I’ve already let the NRA know how I feel about Reid, I suggest that everyone else do the same!

I sent in my card informing NRA that I was not going to “re-up”; that cuddling up to Reid was the final straw. There are other pro-gun organizations to support.

NRA loves Harry Reid is not a forward and its going viral. I could not believe it so I came here. There are over 100 million gun owners and they are our ticket to win all elections. We have to fight this. We are members of NRA. If they back Reid they are going to get a earful.

Forward:
NRA Still Loves Harry Reid

The National Rifle Association has a record of supporting far more Republicans than Democrats, but there’s one powerful Democrat who has a not-so-secret admirer in the NRA — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

The NRA hasn’t officially endorsed Sen. Reid, who is facing a tough re-election battle in Nevada, but the gun rights group “really loves” Reid, an NRA insider tells Newsmax.

Even as tea partyers rallied against Reid in his hometown of Searchlight, Nev., on March 27, Reid was joined by NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre at the official grand opening of a $60 million shooting range Reid helped build north of Las Vegas.

“I know how you worked,” LaPierre said to Reid at the opening. “[This] would not have opened without the work of Sen. Reid.”

Reid’s re-election campaign describes LaPierre as “one of the senator’s supporters,” according to CNN.

Since his election to the Senate in 1986, Reid has consistently voted to protect the rights of gun owners and manufacturers:

In 1993, he was 1 of only 8 Democrats to vote against an assault weapons ban.
The following year he voted in favor of a bill preventing third-party lawsuits against gun manufacturers and distributors when their weapons are used illegally.
He voted against legislation that would have made it a federal crime to keep a gun unlocked and loaded for personal protection in the home.
The NRA sent a letter to its members in July 2009 stating that “for many years, Harry Reid has been supporting our Second Amendment rights in the U.S. Senate.”

At the opening of the shooting range, Reid donned ear plugs to test out his 12-gauge shotgun, Politics Daily reported. After the ribbon cutting, he autographed shell casings.
