You can fool most American Jewish leaders nearly all of the time. . .

The Jerusalem Post reports that Dan Shapiro, the U.S. National Security Council's top Middle East adviser, conducted a conference call with American Jewish leaders on Friday to reassure them about the White House's intentions towards Israel. In what I take to be his only honest utterance. Shapiro said that a "resolution" of the episode is close. The resolution, I assume, will be concessions by Netanyahu.

We're talking about Israel here

Ya think?

The "American Jewish community" is (1) not monolithic

Define ‘monolithic.’ Does the fact that Dennis Prager (and a few like him) is a firm conservative prove that the “American Jewish Community” is not monolithic? I would submit that the “American Jewish Community” comes a lot closer to being monolithic than does the Republican Party.

(2) distinct from Israeli interests.

Boy howdy, are they ever distinct. Which is one of the most compelling reasons why the “American Jewish Community” doesn’t deserve the support of Conservatives. They stink the same as any other Liberal.

Israeli interests must be generally supported by conservatives for fundamental strategic reasons . . . “

Not to mention that it is just generally the right thing to do. Conservatives understand this. I wonder, why not Liberals? Until they do they don’t deserve the support of Conservatives in any particular.

There are actually quite a few more Jewish American conservative intellectuals and pundits than you might think, people who are generally not afraid to butt heads with the Jewish left and the left in general. Here are just a few, in addition to Dennis Prager, whom you mentioned. You may not agree with them on everything, but they are generally at least fairly solid: Mark Levin, Charles Krauthammer, Jonah Goldberg, Debbie Schlussel, Mona Charen, Steve Maltzberg, Pam Geller, Norman Podhoretz, Michael Medved, Bernard Goldberg, Joan Swirsky.

I forget his name but the head of Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership should on that list also. Aaron Zellerman, I believe.

Please forgive Obama’s behavior in this matter. He has to do what he is doing because of the Jihad requirements of his faith.

Bill Kristol, and Dick Morris. The person who converted me to the Republican Party was Milton Friedman ..

Very well. I take it that your thesis is that the Jewish American Community has undergone a major philosophical rift profoundly splitting the community asunder. If that is indeed the case, then stop the presses! This is the most underreported story of the decade. By both the regular news media pukes and the Conservative press.

Congratulations.

Dear Sport:

First, I wasn’t trying to do an exhaustive list of politically prominent conservative American Jews, just limiting it to a few pundits and intellectuals. So I wasn’t thinking of Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, although I surely have heard of them.

Thanks for your input. Are you Jewish, BTW?

Regards,

Justice

Dick Morris, to the best of my knowledge, converted out of the Jewish faith. Furthermore, I don't really consider him as a conservative. He does make bona fide efforts to defeat Democrats in retaliation for the stab in the back he got from the Clintons, when they set him up for embarrassment in the infamous 1996 toe sucking incident.

I could have mentioned Bill Kristol, as well as his father, Irving, but my list wasn't intended to be exhaustive, just some examples.

Being Jewish is something like an ethnicity. You can’t convert from being Italian, similarly you can’t really convert from being Jewish.

You can convert from Judaism to Catholicism and still remain ethnically Jewish . .in fact you almost have to. Bob Novak converted to Catholicism but was still ethnically Jewish.

Your decision to leave Bill Kristol off the list of influential Jewish Republicans is strange. Last time I checked, Kristol was the editor of the Weekly Standard and appears regularly on Fox News.

Agreed.

Didn't deliberately leave Bill Kristol off the list. Just a case, perhaps, of brain lock on my part. I could also have thought of Michael Ledeen and Don Feder, as well as quite a few others, I'm sure. As I said, the list was not intended to be exhaustive.

I wonder how some of these so-called “leaders” get the title. They have nothing but a foundation and a mailing list to boast of, and they are completely out of touch with most Jews.

Basically, the MSM confers it on them. (LOL!)

I only have five more box tops to send in before the MSM makes me a “leader”.

Really? What did he specifically and publicly demand of them? What concessions did he get? What consequences did they suffer for failing to make demanded concessions?

There’ve been no demands made of the Pali squatters. Shapiro has his head squarely up his wazoo.
