Why 2010 should be the year of the conservative, and to dump the RINOS

This November’s election is going to be a boom election for Republicans, much like a tidal wave. Congressional Democrats are terrified and announcing their retirement in droves rather than face the voters with their records on spending and Health Reform. In many ways Election Day 2008 planted the seeds for this; and then Democrats (over reaching) and Republicans (just saying no to democrats) playing their parts to make it happen. The question is, what do we want to do with this gift? There are many here that believe that Republicans winning against Democrats is the number 1 goal, even more important than principles. They believe that we need to nominate RINOS in primaries in certain districts because they will fare better than conservatives. A similar strategy was used in 2004 when GW Bush campaigned for RINO Senator Arlen Specter against conservative Pat Toomey to keep his position in the Senate. It would be a big mistake to do this again this year.

The country is now in a terrible state. Obama took office inheriting some serious problems and then he and his super Democrat party majority made things much-much worse (yet they talk like they have not even been in office after more than a year). The next congress will inherit a huge deficit and debt and will be handed a deficit reduction proposal by Obama (the debt commission) that will recommend that they increase middle class taxes and cut social security and Medicare as well as other very unpopular measures. They will say that Obama inherited all these structural debt problems that have to be fixed; with no talk of the suicidal democrat spending the last two years. And unlike the rosy Obama and McCain promises in a presidential election 2008 calling for new spending and tax cuts, there are really no popular options to take. The Bush tax cuts expiring at the beginning of next year is promising us even more economic problems. Some democrats have even noticed Obama lecturing about the problems 'in Washington' being a sly attack on the congress not intended to help democrats in 2010.

Taking over control of the congress with a bunch of RINOs in 2011 would be a disaster for us and is Obama’s dream. Obama would take his unpopular debt commission recommendations to them and challenge them to do something about it. But every spending cutting option except the military proposed by congress would be demigod-ed by Obama as hurting both the ‘middle class’ and those that ‘need it’ for the purpose of helping ‘the rich’. Under enough pressure the RINOs in a Republican majority would likely join the democrats in calling for taxes on the rich(anyone that pays income taxes), businesses and the middle class(although most taxes on us would likely be hidden). Even if they were not successful in raising taxes beyond the expiring tax cuts, which is likely, Obama would still score political points for 2012 by saying :“ I tried to fix the deficit I inherited but the extremists in the Republican party blocked it”. If you don’t believe the political pendulum can swing back fast just look at 1994-1996.

So what I am saying is: Let’s nominate and elect real conservatives this time. We have nothing to lose by voting for principle. Don’t win 2012 for Obama in 2010. If we elect conservatives most important NEW conservatives who stand together opposing spending and taxes while democrats get the blame for the economy and deficit; then 2012 could be another landslide election against democrats. This is the Republican BOOM year, if we can't choose Tea Party conservatives like Chuck DeVore this time then there will never be a right time.

And when the wheel goes ‘round again, we’ll get another lib in office, with National Health Care, control of guaranteed student loans, energy policy...blah, blah, blah....Time to stop worrying about the slippery slope and start worrying about the jagged rocks at the bottom.

Here in Utah, so long Bennett. I was at a town meeting with Orrin Hatch and I could see the fear in his eyes, it’s obvious he’s not sleeping well. We’re going to run Mr. Friend-of-Kennedy/Mr. Dream Act, too.

Excellent points SoL, and the most important thing that any conservative can do is to remember who our true friends are, i.e., real conservatives are supporting Chuck DeVore in California, and J.D. Hayworth in Arizona. Liberals, progressives, political opportunists and manipulators are supporting the statist-RINO candidates like Carly Fiorina and John McCain, just to name two of the most egregious and offensive individuals running under the banner of the GOP.

Now there may be situations in some states where there is no true conservative candidate on the ballot and the only choice is between a moderate-to-liberal Republican and a member of the 'Rat Party, in which case the only thing one can do is to hold their nose and vote against the 'Rat.

Anyone however, who is supporting Fiorina and McCain when there ARE viable conservative candidates running in the race, is no friend of conservatives, and any claim to BE a conservative becomes suspect.

Former Attorney General John Mitchell's words are worth remembering today:

"Watch what we do, not what we say"

A pretty face, a dazzling smile, and a few well spoken conservative slogans mean nothing. Actions speak louder than words and we need to remind ourselves of that.

THIS IS THE SAME REPUBLICAN PARTY THAT IS HAVING A CONVENTION IN TAMPA INSTEAD OF ARIZONA. I’M EXTREMLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. THE REPUBLICANS TALK A GOOD GAME WHEN THEY ARE IN THE MINORITY (ACTUALLY THEY ARE DOING LESS THIS TIME ROUND COMPARED TO PRE 1994 ELECTION) AND ON THE CAMPAIGN. HOWEVER, THIS VOTE OF HAVING A CONVENTION IN AUGUST IN TAMPA JUST TELLS YOU WHERE THEY STAND ON THE IMMIGRATION ISSUE. CONSERVATIVES IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ARE LIKE THE AMOUNT OF CONSERVATIVES IN THE DEMOCRAT PARTY 30 YEARS AGO.

Keep in mind I’m still a solid conservative, and will vote for conservatives that have the best shot. May God save our Republic.

The real reason why this is a boom year, is because Obama is trashing this nation worse than Jimmy Carter did. If we can’t contrast ourselves against this backdrop favorably, we couldn’t contrast ourselves against any backdrop favorably.

So when the RINO kids come out to play in this environment, you’ve got to ask yourself, is this all we’ve got? Do we as Republicans have anything to sell other than half-baked leftism?

I’m not playing with the RINO kids this year. The grownups are in charge, and if you can’t play by nice considerate sound Conservative policy rules, then go play in your own yard and leave the good kids to clean up this mess.

My friends, we have played by RINO rules for twenty two years. Ronald Reagan left us a pretty sound nation, and look what we’ve done with it. And don’t give any crap about using the ‘we’ word here. As Republicans, we contributed to this mess.

I’m not playing by RINO rules any longer. The Republican party can get it’s act together, or I an my friends will join another effort and slowly replace the Republican party.

We’re at war with the left in our nation. It’s time we acted like it.

Take immigration. The anti-illegals frame the issue in such a way that they make it unacceptable for many hardcore conservatives and libertarians. Then when a candidate is pro-life, pro-2A, cut taxes, cut spending, cut borrowing, cut regulations but also against a big government solution to immigration and for a free market solution, they label that conservative a RINO and seek to destroy him.

Here in IL GOPs Kirk is going to achieve tax cuts by spending more money on a long list of public works programs and subsidies to businesses rejected by the law of supply and demand.

His contradictions in the same 30 second sound bite make him look ignorant more than hypocritical.

Then there are the anti-illegal voices who are out to destroy every conservative who doesn’t agree with them 100% and make anti-illegal the focus of every campaign.

Well at least one Republican (Paul) will vote against the next Republican president calling for a bailout. Next fire McConnell.

I am kind of hoping Spector pulls it off as he is a democrat now, so Toomey can take him out in November.....Obama and unions went out for Spector but liberal groups went for Sestak.

Not sure what to expect with Murtha’s seat.

Spector just lost to Sestak so it's SesTak vs Toomey in November. MSNBC will be celebrating Obama’s (Spector's) loss and call it a liberal uprising. I will miss that old prostitute Spector.
